Very good finnish goalie, calm and has good positioning. Potential starter, good backup. Much better now than he used to be. He quaranteed the olympic gold for Finland.

Ken Holland did this back in 2010 with Evgeni Nabokov who was ultimately claimed by New York Islanders. Never played a game for Detroit.

Few years ago, he was best goalie in KHL, I thought.

For sure, he was up there. But he hasn't played an NHL game in about 5 years and went to the KHL after a rough AHL season where he quickly turned it aorund.

He was good for Finland, but I'm curious to see how he does at the NHL level again. Previous scouting reports said his movement was a weakness.

Great signing from TML. He is good and for 750 a real bargain.
Torontos goalie situation being what it is he even has a shot for starter, but, he will not survive waivers. Atleast Montreal, Edmonton, Kraken, Vegas, Sabres, Columbus, Detroit, Devils and probablu Rangers (if georgiev is traded as rumoured) will surely be after a guy like him.

didn't want to play for a non Playoff team when the Islanders claimed him yeah

he did however play for them the next season, and then even signed two one year extensions and played for them another two years after that

He was good at Olympics. And I thought he was a better goalie than Mikko Koskinen for sure, both internationally and in KHL.

But man. 32 years old, couldn't make it in AHL just a couple years ago... This comes across as a little desperate.

He wouldn't be claimed to mess with the Leafs, no one will do that. He will be claimed if teams think he is a good goalie at a good price. If he isn't claimed, teams don't think he's even worth league minimum, which means he is, odds are, not good at all.
