Not much of one. Malgin has never put it all together. He has great stickhandling skills and is a pretty good passer. But he never worked on his shot enough. He also shys away from the rough stuff at every opportunity. Once he starts getting rattled, he disappears. He also goes through long cold streaks. Every once in a while he'll have a strong game, but yeah, he is strictly 4th line material.

Panthers needed to clear cap and a roster spot for other moves. Tbh Malgin looks redundant on Toronto, but idk maybe he could be a pp specialist on 2nd unit(again I'm sure Leafs have that covered).

Idk i think waiving Malgin would've been better than getting Marchment back who is clearly worse . There's a chance Malgin might help the Panthers biggest rival for their best chance at a playoff spot.

I personally think sometimes getting no asset back is worth more than getting back a bad asset.

Likely Malgin doesn't last until the Leafs .

Becuase Malgin sucks?

I’ve seen plenty of players that had offensive talent but flaws elsewhere who sucked on one team be traded to a team that was a better fit and start becoming a factor.

Why take that risk if you’re Tallon? Mason Marchment of all players isn’t worth taking that risk for.

Malgin wasn’t going to figure it out here so what he does after is irrelevant to me.

Malgin isn't gonna do anything for the Leafs, that's my point. He didnt do anything in florida in parts of 4 seasons, despite being given shots in the top 6.

And they have been rumored to want this for like 4 years and still haven't done it yet. So sorry for being skeptical that they'll be able to do it now?

Wut? He literally traded for Muzzin almost a year to the day a big and physical Dman. He then traded Kadri for Barrie, another top 4 D who sadly hasn't fit with the team. But yeah, he's done two trades already why do people pretend he has done nothing?

Man people will shit on Dubas for anything. He just acquired a 23-year-old center with 184 games of NHL experience for an OLDER player who has 4 NHL games to his name and is pretty much guaranteed to never become an established NHLer. One for one. They're both arbitration eligible RFAs this summer too IIRC so the contract statuses are identical as well. How is that not a massive win for Dubas.
