Exactly. I don‘t get it either.Kind of weird these teams made a trade since they look to be competing for the same playoff spot.
Unless Malgin is some undercover agent on a mission.

Meant more as in when the leafs traded kegger for Hyman, hoping for that type of positivity even if they play nothing alikeHe is nothing like Hyman.
They just lost Hawryluk to waivers. I think they didn't want the same to happen to Malgin, and Q wanted to play other playersSo bizarre to see these 2 teams trading when they're essentially exclusively competing against one another for a playoff spot.
Enjoy Marchment too... on your farm teamDenis Malgin sucked ass this year, enjoy.
Panthers fans: what to expect from Malgin?
As for Marchment... don't expect much...
1) They wouldn't play him.It's a minor deal but I don't get it.
But surely they could have moved him out of the division for something equal to or greater than marchment?1) They wouldn't play him.
2) They would lose him to waivers.
3) Sitting him still takes up cap space.
This is a trade....that sets up the next trade. Good deal for Leafs....added a NHL player for a AHL player.
Now they can trade away a Kerfoot/KK in a deal for a Dman and have a NHL replacement.
I don't understand this for Florida, they are in a playoff battleand gave up a guy that we at least know is an NHL player for a guy that isn't and make no mistake Mason Marchment isn't an NHL guy.

100% but I'm excited for the capspace. This is a nothing trade.A very low end NHL player for someone who might be a very low end NHL player in the future (with size).
Looking forward to this thread getting to be 20 pages long about how Dubas is a horrible GM.
Why?
This added depth allows the Leafs to trade a KK or Kerfoot and replace the offense with Malgin.Toronto already has a replacement for Kapanen/Kerfoot in Mikheyev who should be back in a few weeks.
This feels more like Florida wanted to unload a guy that was at odds with the coach and Toronto was offering something they wanted more than other teams’ offers.

Then move him to Montreal or Buffalo, not the team youre literally in the race with. If Malgin puts together some good puck down the stretch it could just be a silly move, thats all.Moving a guy out of the division would lower the return.
What cap space, Malgin makes 750k100% but I'm excited for the capspace. This is a nothing trade.
My mistakeWhat cap space, Malgin makes 750k
