Like others pointed out, he is likely Johnsson's replacement. If you don't put him in position to score you are better off siting him out.

Just what we need lol.

Actually if I am being honest, Toronto does need some secondary offence. Marchy plays a great AHL game, physical and skilled with size, it just wasn't working here.

After reading through these posts I can get why the Leafs made this deal but why does Florida do this? Is it to clear a spot on the NHL roster?
a) cap space for trade deadline move, b) opens space up for Tippett/Borg who are tremendously better, c) we would have lost Malgin on waivers; now we got a good AHL player to keep everyone happy down there

Was legit confused on why these two teams were making a trade given they are fighting for a playoff spot against each other, and have similar needs. So, a nothing minor leaguer trade makes sense. Although, I can see the Don Cherry truthers melting down on trading away grit for a small skill guy, even if the trade is probably just guys changing AHL affiliation.

So bizarre to see these 2 teams trading when they're essentially exclusively competing against one another for a playoff spot.

yeah it does seem odd to trade with a team you are chasing in the standings, but if reports are correct, they will clear even more spots when/if tro and hoffman get moved

for us, gives more ammo in moving kap if malgin gets a shot in the top 6 and somehow thrives

So Malgin is the proverbial trojan horse? Maybe he's got the flu. Very devious FLA.

If Malgin can gain more of a killer instinct, then I think this would be a very good trade for Toronto. He has plenty of skill, he just doesn't impact the game with it. Plus his size has hurt him.
But if he doesn't improve, get ready to forget he's on your team for long stretches at a time.

Except for the reason for making this trade, to begin with, was the fact that Malgin would not have ended up in the AHL.

A very low end NHL player for someone who might be a very low end NHL player in the future (with size).

Looking forward to this thread getting to be 20 pages long about how Dubas is a horrible GM.
