It wasn't me who said he was 11th on the team in points, I just assumed that if he was so good, he would be scoring in line with his icetime. If he isn't capable of that, it certainly strengthens his case.

again, assumed without understanding the context. If Kapanen had been able to climb up the ranks on last year's Marlies we would be talking about the leafs "big 4" prospects rather than big 3

The Marlies team was incredibly deep, was 12 points better than the next best team in the AHL. Of the 10 forwards who outscored him, 3 were over 23 years old - he wasn't being blocked by placeholders, he was being blocked by other legitimate prospects

lehtonen has a .900sv%, niemi is at .893. Dallas could have nearly 6m space with hemsly on ltir, but if they were comfortable getting another goalie without moving one they would have done it already.

Quoting sv% means nothing if you don't watch the games. Goaltending isn't the problem. It's a problem but the injury decimated roster and lackluster effort by the skaters are far bigger issues. I don't see how acquiring another goaltender is supposed to fix the fact that half of the top 9 is already gone, Jamie Benn needs to sit for whatever injury he has and Klingberg is playing poorly.

I think missing 40% of the season also played a factor. 0.57ppg as a 19 year old is good in the AHL, most players that age are still playing against 16-17 year old kids

goaltending was the problem last year, and they have the same goalies. when dallas turns it around (and they will) they need better tenders or they are going nowhere.

He'll get his credit if he continues to produce this year, it's too easy to look at his stats and call then unimpressive if you don't account for his age and how ridiculous that Marlies team was

I think he also gets overshadowed by the big 3. If you take those 3 away its still an average farm, and he's the best prospect on it

Goaltending was not the only problem last year. The defense is crap. The defense leaves the goalies out to dry too much. They also seem to do a good job screening their own goalie often.

so you would be fine heading into the playoffs with lehtonen as the starter?

And as I originally said before you derailed it by incorrectly saying that goaltending needs an immediate change I said the Stars can afford to sign Bishop in the summer or have the cap space for a trade if Hemsky goes on LTIR even without including Kari or Nemo(if we wanted to be like NYI which we don't lol). But the Stars are in no rush and certainly aren't going to throw talent away for the sake of a goaltending change.

Bishop, Niemi, Lehtonen making 18M. you think thats a possibility?

For the short period until the season ended ? Sure why not if they have the cap space. It's not like you get an extra cookie at the end of the year by having 5m in unused space vs using it on a 3rd goaltender. After that someone is getting bought out so who cares

I'd do Leivo for Oleksiak. I do not see Leivo being part of the future, despite his decent AHL numbers.

I'd do it. Oleksiak again managed to become #8 on the depth chart . Might as well get something for him before his contract runs out .

Stars could use another forward option who could slot in or can compete with our other lower line players who aren't all that great imho.

Oleksiak is hopefully close to getting waived .
