I'll guess 4 years. Either way, no one here will care about the contract after the first game they watch him play.I think it will be 3 year deal.

Don't sign him if it's 5 AAV. I mean I want Tanev. But this gravy train needs to stop in Toronto and it needs to start now

YepIt needed to stop with Matthews.
It just promotes the same cycle over and over again. We need guys that want to be here and taking a small paycut to do so. Otherwise move on.You need to spend money to get good players and we need another solid defenseman if we have any shot at a Cup
Hes going to decline faster than BrodieI'll guess 4 years. Either way, no one here will care about the contract after the first game they watch him play.
I would like to live in your fantasy world.Yep

We need to breed passion not entitlement
You don't need to. Just need to join another fan baseI would like to live in your fantasy world.
Have you watched him play? He easily has two or three good years in him. Whatever happens after that is irrelevant.Hes going to decline faster than Brodie
Athletes are the same everywhere. They are all trying to get as much money as they can, as they should. You don't need to. Just need to join another fan base
Domi literally just signed a team friendly contract today. There's a difference between getting a good pay day and taking your team to the cleanersHave you watched him play? He easily has two or three good years in him. Whatever happens after that is irrelevant.

Tanev is signing his last contract. Of course he is going to try to get as much as he can while he has leverage. It's fantasy-land stuff to think otherwise. Why on Earth does Chris Tanev owe the Leafs anything?Domi literally just signed a team friendly contract today. Domis deal isn’t team friendly at allDomi literally just signed a team friendly contract today. There's a difference between getting a good pay day and taking your team out to the cleaners
Then move on. I like Tanev. Hes a Toronto boy. But we live in a salary cap era. And we need smart contracts, not desperate onesTanev is signing his last contract. He’s almost certainly in the top 10% of cap hits vs production if you consider only UFA deals. He can play anywhere from line 1 wing to line 3 centre. He’s a fantastic asset for that price.5 mill aav, coming with term too?
This team gets rinsed in every negotiation it’s actually crazy
Domis deal isn’t team friendly at all
It’s fair, definitely not team friendly

He's from Toronto. If he wants to play here, then it's his team. So it's either a team friendly contract or move on. 5 M AAV is insane. This isn't Tanev's team.

Can't believe people are arguing about paying him this much. Short memories...

Grandfather in is a thing. Can’t wait until the league changes the LTIR rules to eff us over on this one
Leafs are the ones under pressure because they are pursuing him. Tanev doesn't have to do anything. He can get a good gig somewhere else. He's from Toronto. If he wants to play here, then it's his team. So it's either a team friendly contract or move on. 5 M AAV is insane.
