He's a very good player when healthy.
He'll most likely be good for first few years then turn TJ Brodie circa 2024 on us.

Probably will be low but still 7-8 deal to a guy in his mid 30's is not ideal. Obviously great d man and he's a fav of mine but still.

Maybe the plan is to gun for it in Matthews' 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of his contract. So we want to lower the cap as much as possible and then go back to tanking mode after the contract expires (unless Matthews resigns which is a big question mark if we keep losing in the playoffs)
