Some thoughts

I was at the game. I thought the Atmosphere was about the same as it was especially early in the year. Likely wearing a mask will subdue you a bit more.

PLD/Svech/Connor - Thought they were pretty good. Connor is just flat playing some of his best hockey so far. PLD was a bull and one of the few forwards that willing will take the puck to the net. Svech was solid, I think I would like to see him on the PP in front of the net. Hopefully they get a run together but likely not

Stats/Ehlers/Copp - Stats looks like an old man. He can still be positional sound but he seems behind the play so far. Ehlers was shooting a lot but he's off in a lot of areas. He can still get the puck out and in like nobody else on the team though. Copp is a solid forward on any line he plays. Again one of the few forwards that we have that will take the puck to the net. Scored a beaut by going to the net.

Lowry/Vesa/Harkins - They kind of drove me nuts because there are times when they should be shooting the puck and they don't and times when they should be cycling and they try to shoot. They had 1 SOG and it was a cannon from Vesa. Just shoot the puck and jam the net guys you will score if you do that.

Nash/Toninato - Safe is the best way to describe these two. I think Toninato adds more to the 4th line then anyone else right now. There is no flow to there game with out proper linemates.

Morrissey/Schmidt - Really good in the O zone. I think they got chasing and trying to make too many cutsy passes in the D zone though. Against a better team they would have got burnt

Pionk/Dillon - Thought they settled down as the game went along and were solid. Pionk was a bit chicken with his head cut off early. Dillon hate the system. I can just tell watching go off the ice and complain to Huddy about it. He was vocal to him on the bench and I am just assuming that is what it was about

Stanly/Demelo - Solid showing from the bottom pair. Stanley was physical with out trying to be to cute. Demelo was his solid self.

Overall though the big issue is system play. At first glance they looked to be using a modifed zone coverage but when the D started to move all over the ice, I could see the same system was still in place. I counted 12 times in the 1st we gave the puck in between the blueline and the top of the circles. At least half those times we had 2 forwards jumping the zone. Anaheim almost always got a shot on net because of that. We can't expect our players to be better when they don't have a system that allows them to be better. We often would spend 30 seconds a shift trying to get a puck out and you can't generate offense after working for 30 seconds.

This was a game very similar to others except Helly was very good and we won.

I’m starting to think you ARE Maurice.

Negative. Insufficiently folksy.

PLD played a very smart game, and his routes into the D-zone look to me like some fusion between Torts and Mo hockey. Maybe he can run a practice?

I agree with @Joe Hallenback above that Dillon seems to have a lot to talk about with Huddy. Oh, for a lapel mike on the bench.

Outside of the first goal, I was not impressed with Svech overall performance yesterday. Dubois and Connor were the drivers for that line.

You start to see his limitations playing on a number one line. He caused a few hemmed in moments failing to get the puck out, or turning it over.

Seems better suited for a 3rd/4rth line role at this point in his career. I liked what I seen throughout training camp in that role

This team is set up to score off of puck movement. We need to see more of it moving forward.

Yeah I'm hoping that Wheeler's early play was just him not feeling great from early signs of covid. I know when my dad got it he didn't even know for a few days but felt very lethargic and tired and then eventually the cough came and he got tested right away.

Yeah he's likely a third line guy that might be able to step up in a pinch. Luckily that is likely all we will need him for.

I thought Ves played well. Not sure about the chemistry with Lowry though long term. I didn't have much in terms of expectations for Nash but surely Gus would be a better option.

I don't care about getting out shot. I care about is quality chances. I think the ducks had far more then us this night. I think it was fairly close the last time we played them.

The Ducks play there system to a tee right now. Watch the Copp goal. They were set up perfectly except for one problem the 5th guy decided to change at the worst time and we got a powerplay because of it. If that guy doesn't do that we don't score.

Ducks still pretty handedly outplayed the Jets. Jets fans should still be concerned, the Ducks are bad and they for all intents and purposes should have won the game. Defensively, the Jets are a disaster. The systems they use are so terrible.

You appear to be putting too much stock in the shot clock. The count was a lot closer until the Jets got up by 2 goals, then score effects kicked in.

Edit: Jets turnovers were really bad. They need to fix that ASAP. The D is still not good - but Jets were good for that win.

Why does it seem like all you want to do is argue on here? Lighten up a little.

I like posters to be consistent in their opinions/rationale and not flip flop to support their personal narrative.

I find it fun to point out blatant discrepancies. Either you can laugh on these gotchas or get mad when I promote accountability. If you’re in the latter camp, lighten up a little. ;)

Once again Beaulieu contributed absolutely nothing. They could just as well go 11-6.

I assume the Jets are doing this 11-7 business for cap reasons (using their PB guys, regardless of position) since there is no relief for guys out because of covid.

I wonder if Crazy Eyes Comrie can play forward??

Hellebuyck plays forward in summer roller hockey...or he did when he lost his spleen, anyway.

PLD has been a bright spot and so has KFC. Connor is actually making an effort when the other team has the puck. 100% improvement in his all around play. Copp is succeeding in the top 6 so far. Stone hands has 3 goals in 4 games.

Stastny and Schmidt may have been unnecessary expenditures. Stastny is still smart, but that only goes so far. I like Schmidt's skating, puck carrying and offense. Defense, not so much.

Considering our cap situation it is inexcusable that Beaulieu was not waived. Absolutely inexcusable.

Waive Beaulieu and bring up a forward. Save 400k cap hit.

Took so long for me to enter with my passport, ID all that. I love how we need to still wear facemasks even though everybody in the rink is vaccinated...

Vaccinated people can still carry the virus and they can still get seriously sick.

Not sure that the mask has much, if any, effect in that context but I don't know that it doesn't. Allowing these crowds is risky so every precaution available is probably a good idea. Especially indoors.

I'm not too surprised, I've seen numbers as high as 75% of fully vaccinated people being apprehensive about attending indoor events with full capacity. I'm surprised the lower bowl was as full as it was honestly.

I deliberately avoided picking tickets early in the season from my group. Still not certain I will attend the first one I have tickets for.
