Brutal list, probably just as bad as the one for the '11-'12 season. They had Malkin at #22, Hossa at #46, etc, etc. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=49962
What are you talking about ? Luongo and Kesler didn't make the list.
Becoming tradition for TSN to put out the worst top players list every year.
This isn't a list of the top scorers in the league, is it? There's more to hockey than just points.

Players have Kessel ranked 16.
So TSN guys must be predicting a catastrophic season from the Leafs (whats new) and Kessel in order to have him 47th. Seriously, what ever happened to Maggie the Monkey or whatever it was called because it looks like it picked this list.
I still can't get over Mike Richards and Dustin Brown being higher than Phil Kessel.
They said Dustin Brown ranking was due to his nearly co-winning of the Conn Smythe for his leadership and impact in last years playoffs, and carrying the Kings to victory.
Mike Richards was ranked highly also for his heart and leadership, and despite an off regular season points wise, his last 3 years playoff totals place him among the leaders in playoff scoring.
Good players making their teams better, is what makes them top players, and why someone would select them over Phil Kessel.

then how about alll the one dimensional players from WORSE teams than the Leafs that are ranked above Kessel on that list?
Brown are Richards are core players, Kessel is a great support player. That's a key distinction here.

You're forgetting already that Kessel pretty much carried this team in the first half of last season?
The amount of Kessel hate, even here in this thread is sickening and I sure hope you guys aren't leaf fans because its disgusting how much you people under appreciate this kid.
-Richards is a core part of the team, that's why the Flyers shipped him off and started to build their team around Claude Giroux.
-Also, Brown is a core part of the team that the Kings were planning to trade him at the deadline.
If the Kings lost to NJ in the Finals, Brown or Richards don't even SNIFF the top 50.

They didn't lose. They won and they won handedly. NJ only scored 8 goals in 6 games, you don't think the play of Richards/Brown had anything to do with that? These guys are physical, these guys are good defensively, and these guys can score.
M. Richards made team Canada ahead of names like Spezza, (young) Stamkos, etc. You don't think it's because GMs/scouts/coaches/etc value more than just the numbers on a stats sheet? Even just looking at stats, M. Richards had an 80 point season at the same age that Kessel had his PPG season (24). He's topped 75 points twice and 30 goals twice. He's known as a solid playoff performer.
These are the types of guys you win with when it counts. Kessels offence is only slightly better than M. Richards, and arguably isn't even better. And then Richards dominates Kessel in every other aspect of the game.
