Do you really think a Bell owned station like TSN really have something against the Leafs??
Yes.

Problem? That a point per game player playing with Tyler Bozak as his centerman is ranked 47th.
B-b-b-but Kessel scores goals! He gets points! Isn't that all there is to hockey?!?1one!1?
Burrows and Kesler aren't PPG players though :/ Had they had 37 goals and 82 points, and TSN put them 47th - an argument could be made.
What I found hilarious:
Nash at 24? Too high
Eberle at 25. Way too high
Suter at 26. Way too high
Letang shouldnt be on the list
Seguin at 31. How does he break top 50?
James Neal at 36. Should not be on top 50.
Kessel at 47. Should be much higher.
No Elias?
Only 3 goalies?
This isn't a list of the top scorers in the league, is it? There's more to hockey than just points.
this list is about the future and not now, thats why a guy like Kesler was left off. Duthie said so mid-show. it's about what these guys will be during this upcoming season. not about what they've done in the past.
This is a joke, Niklas Backstrom ahead of PHIL KESSEL LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Aside from 1-9 the rest is a joke.
I missed most of the show and didn't catch any of their reasoning and/or criteria so thanks for this. Did they add anything else that would be helpful to the discussion you could share? I could add it to the OP.

TSN has unveiled the NHL's Top 50 players heading into the 2012-13 hockey season based on selections by a panel of experts,
Nonis would trade Kessel for Backstrom in a second.
Imo I doubt anyone thinks Brown is a more valuable player than Kessel.
But I'm 100% okay with Kessel not being in the top 30

You don't know that.
That doesn't mean anything, since the "panel of experts" still need to have reasoning for their decision-making. That reasoning would then be no different than what forum posters would use, namely, statistics, watching players play, etc. So being an expert doesn't mean anything in this case.
So unless by the bold you are hinting at the subjectivity of the experts, then there is no way to justify this ranking. You'd have to think Canada's apparent best when it comes to hockey would create a better list even if it were subjective, though.
A lot of people are saying the top 9 or 10 is fine, but even that is not fine.
With Bozak as the current 1C?
In a second.
