With Sanderson turning pro at the end of the year we need to get him a veteran partner who can work with him. We need a RHD D-men or someone who can play on the 2nd pair RHD and help ease him in, preferably between 28-34 with 2-3 years left. I’m fine with giving both of our 2nd round picks as a starter and can go from there Our 2nd is basically the same as a late 1st round and we have Tampa’s 2nd which would be around pick 60. Sanderson’s game has been compared to Ryan Suter’s game if that helps.

Don’t want zaitsev coming back sir
Understandable, but unfortunately I don't think the Sens would take on that amount of money without sending some back. Murphy makes Zaitsev a very expensive 3RD, with a couple of very inexpensive, young, talented RD waiting in the wings.

So while I would personally love Murphy to replace Zaitsev as one of our two top-4 RD, I don't think we would seriously entertain trading for Murphy without knowing we can offload Zaitsev (and at what cost). Realities of a small market, budget team.

Understood.

Top 4 quality right shot defensemen dont grow on trees. One with term remaining on his contract that can be acquired in a trade is rarer still. You cant buy this product with a couple of 2nd round picks.

Are they actually good?? Because if they're scrubs then we have enough scrubs.

Myers has played north of 24 minutes 8 out of the past 9 games and he's looked better with more ice time (he's been making smart defensive plays and then turning those into scoring opportunities), plus he's a 6'8" RHD who is well rounded. While our bottom 3 D have been a revolving door due to injuries, Hughes/ OEL/ Myers have been the defenseman constants holding it all together.
