always would sign

never in doubt

business is well .... business

ill say it again, why sign a bad deal too fast ? explore options, avoid some camp, stay in shape, create some buzz, and sign bad deal late.

Played a little chicken for longer than I’d hoped but clear NYR wasn’t budging nor could they really. Needed the cap space.

Gives him 2 weeks to get ready. Go to work kid and prove it. I think he’s a stud really do

Awesome.

Tony may not be happy about it, but this is the best decision for him long term.

Everybody wins, even if he doesn't know it yet.

In the words of the "Awesome" John Davidson....."Yeah Baby!"

Now, everybody is on board. Let's rock and roll!

Something would have been missing moving forward without Tony on this team. He was, after all......quite the bright spot and has many (including me) fans, wishing and hoping that he succeed in this Rangers uni. Leave the past behind (in which the Rangers have done everything to help him with) and go out on that ice and do your thing.
This is great I say, and he should be VERY motivated.

"IF" he goes out and proves he is a good 2nd pairing player, that would bode so well for the Rangers as Fox seems like he may already be ahead of him. Tony is against the wall as the Rangers aren't going to trade 2 2nd rounders for a 3rd pairing player. But, that is where Fox should be (for the time being) and probably on 2nd PP unit with Tony.
I dunno a lot of water now under the bridge. If he plays well, good for the team NOW and might even be better as now......he will probably be traded if Fox plays like we all think he will.......time will tell.

Awesome, awesome news. We never were bad Tony!

I can't believe he actually gave in. I guess playing with the team overthrew any monetary argument. This is team loading up big time and he wants to be part of it.

Can't wait for ADA to troll Kakko and management be like: "yo, leave that kid alone."

Oh wow. How would you KNOW that. People are misunderstood. You don't KNOW what he has been through in his life. If he is perceived as a racist then, how would you KNOW that he or a family member wasnt raped or killed by someone other than his white heritage?
Maybe he was raised that way.

There is almost certainly a side agreement. No way the Rangers are looking to stick it fully to a Pat Brisson client so that when the tables are turned when the client is holding the cards they will suffer. ADA is clearly worth more than double the signing amount and the younger guys are getting paid now. I'm sure Labanc didn't just sign for less than half his worth without a promise that the Sharks will take care of him when they can do so under the cap. I presume some kind of similar assurance was made to ADA, as long as he keeps his nose clean and plays to up to his talent.

Guys, can we please calm down a little bit?
A warning of this nature has been posted before in previous threads, but here it is again:

Prior to last season, the DeAngelo thread was axed altogether because people could not contain themselves and it would regularly devolve into flame wars. We decided to give it another chance, with the caveat that moderation would be significantly tighter.

For the purpose of this series of threads, the political 'controversy' surrounding ADA does not exist. Please also refrain from posting opinions about his value as a human being as it relates to incidents that occurred prior to his Rangers career.

Further, not every criticism of DeAngelo is because of some political agenda. Do not publicly accuse other posters of pushing such agendas.

Unfortunately, this is the way it has to be if we want these threads to continue.

Violations of the above guidelines will results in warnings and/or removal from the thread(s). Any questions, PM any of us.

All chatter I’ve heard has consistently been that the Rangers like ADA and are serious about giving him the support and coaching he needs to channel his immense skills.

Regardless of whether fans agree with his approach to this contract, I seriously doubt that has changed.

I continue to think that there’s not nearly as much drama or as deep of personal feelings involved as these threads would have someone believe.

When do we expect to see ADA playing? Guess he's about a week or ten days behind the rest.

Today and tomorrow he’s going to be doing off and on ice testing. Then I’d imagine he’d be on the ice practicing as a regular from there.

from all indications, this organization was quite high on this kids skill set for quite some time. when he was acquired, the suits were all on board with his being added to that stepan deal. ADA was a known commodity. JG said so himself after the deal went down. ADA was not a "throw in".

they were also fully aware of the other "things" he brings with him. he's a polarizing guy.

this "holdout" was always just business.

all things forgotten once the puck drops for real.

I really hope this doesn’t come back to bite the Rangers in the ass. I hope he doesn’t use his future leverage as badly as the Rangers used it against him.
