ADA probably won't be anything special at this point, still would much rather see him out there deficiencies and all. At least he has the ability to create some offense from the back end unlike the rest of this defense. I understand wanting to "showcase" McQuaid so he probably won't play much until that happens.

If he isn’t packaged for anything, he’s going to get plenty of minutes near and after the trade deadline when the Rangers will most likely at the very least moves Hayes and Zucc.

I still have no idea why we traded for McQuaid, especially when we had Staal, Skjei and Shatty, signed Claesson and seemingly anticipated Smith would at least play in the NHL.

We wasted a third on a shitty player who constantly steals minutes from a guy we should, at the very least, be trying to gauge whether or not he fits here long-term.

Even if the team is trying to showcase McQuaid, the fact that we forced ourselves into a need to do that is just as ridiculous and considering we're probably going to end up with a lower 3rd makes than what we gave makes it even more stupid.

Just stupid, stupid, stupid.

DeAngelo has been scratched for a total of 15 games this season, in those 15 games the Rangers have only won a whopping 2 games.

With him in the lineup the Ranger's have a 15-6-4 record.

Just thought I should pass along this statistic that AK brought up in another thread.

The defense is just grossly mismanaged. Said it before, and will say it again. I'm fully onboard the Fire Lindy bandwagon.

Terrible track record in Dallas, and Buffalo.

If it's an office issue, then you might as well bring it out because everything else you're doing is diminishing the assets value.

McQuaid was not the dumb move. Shattenkirk was. Smith was.

I mean, sure those were also dumb moves, but at least they were made with a belief that the team was going to compete.

We literally traded away a 3rd round pick, for an absolutely garbage D-Man, to play on a team that had almost no shot at making the playoffs.

There wasn't sense behind it. Not even twisted sense.

Fans say we’re not goin to the games unless you fix the defense. Team acquires Dman, fans buy tickets.... that’s the only logic I can potential see

Honestly....I don't think McQuaid has been awful.

I think denagelos game slipped his past half dozen or so games...I also think pionk has severely regressed offensively which no longer balances his atrocious defense

I think ADA sitting is to try to drum up value for McQuaid, Shatt,Smith and Clauesson nothing more nothing less.

Agreed. The FO is not stupid. ADA is helping this team win. two things wrong with that... a) The other trade bait dmen don't build value, and b) The turns off tank mode, which, at this point, is not wise. Beginning of the season I understood not tanking. Reality is that this team is bad, anyone with a brain knew that, but to actually see it happen--as a fan, as the players are, as the coaches are, it's different. Reality is setitng in

McQuaid trade was a disaster from the start. Even if he was signed for league minimum as FA it would have been awful. He's entirely inept offensively (he has one shot on goal in the last sixteen games!) and the team is getting shelled while he is on the ice both in terms of shots and goals. Showcasing McQuaid should only serve to decrease his value as other teams see that he is actually bad but GMs are bad so I'm sure it won't. Showcasing is a myth anyway.

this entire defense is brutal. agree that ADA isnt the problem. this defense needs an overhaul.

the team morale is brutal

the effort now seems lacking

the results are embarrassing and it seems this team has gone full tank.

difficult times are ahead.

lose for hughes back in vogue again.

if/when we move 13 and 36 there is a real chance we could be bottom 3.

I wonder if they'll even qualify ADA this off-season?

Is he just going to sign his qualifier if they do?

If not, the Rangers are going to offer above it?

If post trade deadline things do not improve between the Rangers and ADA I think he may just go play in some other league or will be moved for like a 5th.

If so the Rangers turned the combination of McQuaid and ADA into what exactly?

Which means they turned Stepan into what exactly?

Gorton in this case is positioning himself into far more negative asset outcomes than positive ones.

If anything maybe they should just include ADA in some deadline deal now if they can get anything for him, which probably they could have if they had just played him.

Just not sure what the Rangers are going to offer in his next contract?

If they do not like him enough to play him, do they really like him enough to have him hanging around as the healthy scratch again next year?

They gotta clear the way for Adam Fox so of course he won't be qualified.

But on a serious note, I wouldn't be shocked if he isn't qualified. Quinn trusts Pionk more, he'll be the one they keep of the two.

DeAngelo won't be the first or last Ranger blueliner to be oddly overrated. I think he should be getting more games and looks in this year but people are acting like a young impact blueliner is being unfairly scratched for some obscure reason.

We saw the same thing with Adam Clendenning (particular with the Corsi crew) and even Dylan McIlrath where people swore these guys were regular blueliners being unfairly shunned. Both players permanently out of the league even after transititioning to different organizations.

Isn’t it funny how the Rangers did
NOT ruin Brian Leetch?

Some how the hall of fame offensively gifted defensmen found his way...
