Toffoli is one of the most nothing 30G players in the league. Like he can score his 30 goals without you even noticing him whatsoever. He doesn't really do anything else of note. Just scores his goals and disappears back into the woodwork.
They'll probably get something alright for him in trade, even with this information out in public. On the strength of his reputation and goal totals. But somebody is going to get ripped off, not getting nearly the sort of impact player they think they're trading for.

Murphys a top four defenseman on a dirt cheap contract with term. No GM is giving up a first round pick for one year of a guy and either losing him to FA or giving him market value.I also said Toffoli has 2-3 years of playing life left. Connor f***ing Murphy has not had the career that Toffoli has had.

You could easily make an argument that wilson and toffoli are a wash, especially since they've been right around the same number of points each year for the past few years (outside of this year) plus washington gets the physical aspect already from wilson.

Toffoli and Lindholm both want out. Toffoli is 31, signed for one more season and wants out. Good luck getting a premium (+) return on etiher. Even at their highest value this is an enormous overpay for Washington. No chance the Caps do this. The Caps aren’t going to trade Wilson at all and they’re not going to trade 8th Overall for aging vets.

That's terrible for Washington. Top 10 picks don't get moved for guys 1 year from UFA. Maybe something around Kuz + futures could work for Lindholm.

Hell to the no. This is an awful deal for WSH. Atrocious. Wilson alone will command a kings ransom.
Pretty terrible for the Caps. Maybe Toffoli + 16th for Kuznetzov + 8th if Caps want to dump Kuzenetzov and can't find any other takers.

Man this take doubles down on the stupid. The Caps aren’t going to trade back out of the Top 10 for Toffoli who is older, under shorter team control, and is an inarguably worse player. I wouldn’t trade Kuznetsov for Toffoli straight up. To also move back out of the Top 10? Hell No. WTF is this?
People are completely clueless about Kuznetsov’s situation in WSH. He isn’t a Cap Dump and more and more it doesn’t look like the Capitals are actively shopping him. Will he be moved? Likely. But it will also be a hockey trade not a terrible value trade just to move his contract.
