Took them long enough to announce it. I'm just glad that we now have some security behind the bench and go forward with a plan. The veterans are going to respect TMac because they've played against the Sharks for all those years and vice versa.

It makes sense.....I wonder what Sturm does though, stay on, in what capacity?

We won't get a REAL idea of what Tmac's vision is, until you see training camp invite's, cuts, and pre-season etc,

I am glad it’s sorted. Focus can move to the combine and the draft.

I thinks he’s the right choice for where we are today, and will take us through the next 3 years fine. Year 4 we can start worrying about if he can deliver in the play-offs. If we get to the play-offs sooner, it’s a bonus.

Could easily have been negotiations with the Oilers that took the time, they were always going to drive a hard bargain.

I too would have liked a fresh new coach but while it's a 'boring' hire it's the one that makes the most sense with a roster full of vets that apparently need their dicks shook for them as well as with McLellan's experience integrating youth

At least he has had a chance to see and match up against the Kings best players during the Cup years and see them and coach against them during their worst years.

He should know what to expect from the players and where the teams strengths and weaknesses are from first hand experience.

Maybe by knowing their faults and trying all these years to exploit them he can help curb them.

It is an outside the organization hire which was needed. He has had a decent track record and he actually has a pulse verses our last couple of coaches.

I hope he does well, not upset about the hire, won’t really know if he was the right or wrong pick until next year.

I'm pretty excited about TMac, I think he is the right coach for the team. He has had success in the league that the players will respect and I think he can bring some much need stability behind the bench. Someone like Gronborg would have been fun just for a change of pace, but I don't see how you can be too upset about this hire.

You also had to understand where Blake was coming from.

You know what you're getting in TMac so there's less risk. At worst he is a decent coach that can give you some positive results in the regular season (wins/losses wise).

But if he hires a rookie HC and he busts, then his job is probably in jeopardy. Too risky.

If you can’t beat them, join em.

Yeah, I don’t know if they’ll respect him or not.

His job should already be in jeopardy, IMO.
