I can't believe I just wasted 20 mins of my life reading this thread.

I think I'm going to go make an animal sacrifice at my Todd Bertuzzi altar now.

Your bias is showing. If you're going to be a Bertuzzi apologist, at least try to hide your idolization of Vancouver and hatred of Ottawa.

Hatred for Ottawa? That's laughable considering Ottawa is my second favourite team. Wade Redden is one of my all-time favourite players. And when did I ever mention Vancouver at all in that post? Where's my idolization for the Canucks in this topic? Strangely, it appears non-existant to me. In fact, your bias against Bertuzzi is alarmingly self-evident.

Bertuzzi went "Bellevue" and maniacally attacked someone, while Heatley and his friend were having fun in a fast car.

Oh sure, they were just having "fun". Everything is forgiven, of course. That's okay folks, drive recklessly. As long as you're having fun doing it, it's not a crime at all!

Give me a freaking break.

To most jury's, Heatley looks negligent, but not "criminal", conversely Bertuzzi looks like a sadistic uncontrollable wild man, and not surprisingly, is already considered to be just that by most.

Sadly, this is true.

Hypothetical situation: Had Heatley been drunk, he would have had the book thrown at him and would receive no sympathy from anyone. But he wasn't drunk, he was just driving recklessly. So he gets a slap on the wrist. I simply cannot fathom this line of thinking. At least if he was drunk I could understand somewhat. When you're drunk, your judgement is impaired. Heatley was sober. His judgement wasn't impaired. He knew exactly what he was doing and the risks involved.

A man is dead because Dany Heatley was "having fun in a fast car" and you openly dismiss it as if it was the most absolutely trivial thing ever?

it's a disgusting travesty that that thug Todd Bertuzzi made Team Canada... he's an embarrasment to the maple leaf... just more politics IMO. Of course a guy like Tambellini wants him on the team to get him going again or to increase his trade value. I would have rather had Todd White on the team before Bertuzzi.

Shameful!

I don't like Bertuzzi and don't think he should be representing Canada, but I didn't expect the team to be made up of all my favourite players. No point dwelling on it.

The good thing about this thread is that it's helped me double the population of my favorite city. (I call it the "Ignore List") It's too bad I can't charge residents income tax.

I hope you remain unhappy for the next 2/3 years...

How come no one is pissed off Heatley made the team?
Heatley made a mistake that most folks can sympathize with. We've all driven faster than we should have for the conditions. Bertuzzi attacked a much smaller guy from behind, knocked him out and drove him to the ice face first.

In life, as in hockey, size can be a powerful advantage. I'm a big guy myself (bigger than Bert anyway) and I am aware of the fact that with size and strength comes additional responsibility. Bertuzzi may not feel that way, but anybody who's been pushed around by a bully probably doesn't want Bertuzzi representing Canada.

If you can "sympathize" with what Heatley did, then I want you off the roads.

Really though, forgive and forget. Neither Heatley nor Bertuzzi are "scum," they're both good people that made a colossal mistake that they will both regret for the rest of their lives. It's in the past. Get over it.
