San Jose says NO. Nobody is giving a 3rd for dermott right now. Start over

San Jose fans aren't going to like this, because replacing Hertl with anything less than a guaranteed star prospect is going to likely be a downgrade, but for a pure rental, that is honestly decent value. A 1st + top prospect is more than most rentals could ever hope to return.

The Braun deal seems about right with retention.

I’m not fully opposed to it as I think k Robertson will be a solid player but I’d want more from TOR. A 3rd or another equivalent prospect to the 3rd.

Yikes. Here's a live look at Doug Wilson after receiving that Hertl offer.

Ok not going to even comment on the proposals, I want to know why the Leafs are blowing up one of the best offenses in the league and gutting their depth. Braun isn't a top pairing D and Rielly - Brodie have been outstanding all season.

Makes no sense for the Leafs to add another skilled player anyways. They have more than enough scorers they need grit in their top 9 and an upgrade on Holl. This blows the Leafs load, disrupts team chemistry, and the team is no better when Hertl walks in a few months.

Don't see the leafs parting with their best forward prospect and a 1st for a rental no matter how good they are. Got burned bad last year and Dubas seems to be targeting guys with more term.

Leafs have no cap space moving forward

They tried the tough guy approach last year but needed goals to win a round .

when do the leafs go for the cup , after Matthews etc move on ?
The leafs need to take a chance this year
It will be the hardest 1st round they will probably face for a very long time. Not the year to blow a ton of futures on a rental. Plus they haven't shown anything to warrant that much faith in the team. They will live and die by the big 4 and Campbell.

Sharks should take this and run IMO. Which superior prospect to Robertson do people think a team would trade to rent Hertl?

They have prospects, that are 3 to 4 years away . Leafs team this year is good add and it could put them over the top .
3 solid lines scoring
