LFG! Now I'm actually excited to watch this team this coming season. Huberdeau wasn't resigning here anyways and weegar is a bonehead when it counts. I didn't want to try to resign both of them anyways for the money they would want. Rather lockup a younger skilled player like Tkachuk and add from there.

Also, wtf why couldn't the Flames take Horny? You'd think that package would have been more than enough.

Terrific trade. 8 full years locked in for two guys looking for too much. Paid a lot, but got the 8th year. HFers will say this is terrible, we paid too much etc, perhaps…but it gave us the 8th year on an absolute stud!

imo the Panthers paid Schwindth or that 1st round pick too much but in a year or two.. who cares.
The Panthers got better and younger, can't really complain.

Verhaeghe - Barkov - Denisenko
Tkachuk - Bennett - White
Balcers - Lundell - Reinhartt
Cousins - Luostarinen - Hornqvist

Forsling - Ekblad
Carlsson - Montour
Staal - Gudas

Holy ****

Never ever thought this would happen.... HUBY NOOOOO 😿😭

I'm neutral on the trade; I just like Huby (and Weegar) in general. Wish it had worked out and we'd found success here with our homegrown boys. Oh well. LFG Panthers!

Straight up, Tkachuk is not better than Huberdeau, adding Weegar and a 1st makes this absolutely maddening.

Respectfully disagree.

What Tkachuk lacks in offensive impact (he still has a strong positive impact) he makes up for in defensive impact.

Younger, and now locked up.

I take Tkachuk at 8 years over Huberdeau 10/10 times given Hubys age.

Okay, I’ve had 10 minutes to really sit on this. This might be a really good move. If they are rentals for Calgary, we moved two big pieces in our lineup but watching them both in the playoffs was extremely disappointing. If Zito feels like they weren’t putting in the effort then I totally like this trade and Matty is no slacker. I’m gonna sit on this for a little longer.

I think one thing to really take into account with this is we got rid of two of our slower players and added a good skater in tkachuk.

Both go to market in my opinion. Not a chance either one stays in Calgary. Especially Huby with Walsh as his agent, they’re gonna want to cash in.
