As for our matchup, I believe that Winnipeg needs one win in any form to clinch third place. They play the Canucks twice on a back to back and then us to finish the season. They should be able to manage one win against Vancouver but who knows with how they’ve played. We’re likely looking at Toronto vs Montreal folks.

Is it just me or did anyone else love Ben Hutton's game tonight?

IMO has thrown himself in the discussion for some playoff action.

I'm certainly more optimistic regarding the reinforcements going into this postseason.

I'm typically just happy to have the Leafs competing in the playoffs in general and don't really think too much about the opponent. For a playoff series against the Habs to be this close though...

What's the deal with people saying Montreal played us well this year, wasn't it 6-3-1?

Montreal is easily my preferred opponent.

They have a rookie coach who doesn't seem to know what he's doing.

They've been hit by injuries including to their star goalie.

They've had a condensed schedule.

They can't score.

Their top center has less points than our top center has goals. Their second line center has two more points than our second line center has goals and seems to be in a serious confidence crisis.

Think about the narrative about their forward depth before the season started, it is to laugh.

Winnipeg is much scarier, but still not that scary.

They have the ponies up front to give us a hard time, but Ehlers being out is a huge hit.

Their D is terrible on paper but kind of works for them.

Somehow, they've become a soft team.

Behind that is a potentially huge problem if he gets hot. Price is a bit too old to really worry about, but Helle is still young and nimble enough to post a .945 and sink us.

Hellebuyck and Schiefele worry me on Winnipeg, no one on Montreal does.

Montreal is likely but it doesn't matter, I like the Leafs against either team (also Edmonton). It's not gonna be 'Leafs in 3', you know both teams will play hard, but you'd have to be insane to be someone in the Montreal or Winnipeg organizations and look forward to playing the Leafs.

the only teams that look forward to playing the Leafs are Ottawa and Boston.

You know MTL will not only have one of the best goalies in the NHL back for the playoffs but also have Danault, Drouin, Weber, and Gallagher back. They will be a tough team to beat, but its much better we play them in the first round before Price gets into a groove.

Leafs are a different beast in the playoffs. I have a feeling we will squeak this out in 6/7 games, many games going into OT. Foligno, Hyman, and Nash will be the big difference makers. Obviously Campbell (maybe Rittich or Hutch) will make a difference. I dont need to mention our offense, that is a given. Will be interesting to see if they can crack Price and get him pulled or have Allen start game 2/3.

We have 9 guys I would be comfortable throwing in at any time. Unless all of Rielly/Muzzin/Brodie go down I think we could still manage alright with a few injuries unlike in past seasons.

Sandin and Liljegren should be in full time next year but if Bogosian / Hutton can't find a better situation in the offseason they would be ideal depth guys to bring back in.

Agreed. The only correction is 7-2-1.

Spezza - Matthews - Marner
Galchenyuk - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Engvall - Hyman
Kerfoot - Nash - Foligno

My biggest concern in the playoffs is special teams. We have the 26th ranked PK and an anemic PP. This could easily bite us in the ass and be the difference between winning or losing a series.

It’s sad when our only real area of concern is who will be officiating the games.

I have complete confidence in this team. They addressed the defensive system, toughness, goalie, depth, every weakness from last year has been fixed. We can hold a lead except on a rare occasion, we can comeback when down.

It will be a shame if the phantom calls and game management by officials creeps into the games.

Hutton and Simmonds for me stood out physically. I thought the momentum started to be in our favor when Simmonds started being extremely physical. When Hutton hit anderson, it made my heart fill with joy.

The habs seemed to always "finish" their checks even when they're late and should be interference calls.

Also watching the habs fall every time they feel a tap drives me insane

Zeke . What’s going on? Is this the ”resting guys” lineup for the next two games? Spezza can’t handle those minutes in playoffs. Thornton and/or Simmonds will be playing.

Hyman. Matthews. Marner
Foligno. Tavares. Nylander
Mikheyev. Kerfoot. Simmonds
Thornton. Nash. Spezza

Or

Foligno. Matthews. Marner
Galchenyuk Tavares Nylander
Hyman. Kerfoot. Mikheyev
Thornton. Spezza. Simmonds

Jumbo's has been better lately but I still do not think he should be full time in the playoff lineup.

Foligno. Matthews. Marner
Galchenyuk/Hyman Tavares Nylander
Soup Engvall/Kerfoot Hyman/Simmonds
Galchenyuk/Jumbo Kerfoot/Nash Simmonds/Spezza

Players have made it hard on Keefe to figure out who sits and who plays.

Spezza - Matthews - Marner
Galchenyuk - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - Engvall - Hyman
Kerfoot - Nash - Foligno
Wwwwwwttttttttttfffffffffff!!!!!!
Foligno will not be on our 4th line
And Spezz will not be on our 1st line
And Hyman will not be on our 3rd line
And Pierre will be a extra as it should be
Man o man , I hope your kidding on your lineup ?
