Player Discussion Tim Stützle - (C) - Part VI

Doesn’t really have the explosiveness or no how to bring that puck to the middle of the ice.

His patented play is just driving wide and going low percentage short side.

He needs a guy who will do the shooting for him
Stutzle does play on the perimeter going wide and using his skating to drive the D back and looking for a player to pass to for a shot. He needs to play with a winger who goes to the open areas for a shot, in addition to Tkachuk who goes to the front of the net. Giroux is no longer a player who can keep up, so a replacement is needed. He is still young and very creative so I think he will improve with additional experience.

Ummm, Timmy or Zetterlund? Both definitely have explosiveness. Zetterlund was crashing the net a lot against Buffalo. Stü can definitely go to the center of the ice.

He also goes the net. There are multiple examples in the highlights of him doing this even against Buffalo. He hasn't had any clear breaks in recent months, probably because Green isn't utilizing him on the PK, and because he's been asked to be defensively responsible, rather than cherry picking.

Stützle's absolute REFUSAL to shoot the puck is getting very irritating.

Guy scored 39 freaking goals yet insists on being comically predictable by not being a dual threat.

Just simplify your game, take the f-ing shot when it's there and stop forcing passes all over the place.
This... he needs to stop trying to make it look pretty and just start rifling shots on net. He has the capability to score in bunches when he's a bit more greedy with the shot. Right now him getting goals would be more helpful than watching him try to make sweet passes.

Yes he has. However he seems to favour going wide and behind the net if the D forces him wide.

I like his play; if he can drive to the net he does so; if he cannot he goes wide and tries to go behind the net to create a pass out. Sometimes he stops and curls back.

He has to be injured right? Can’t be the same player who would charge full speed to the net, dangle and score.

Teams might be figuring him out or now he’s getting tougher competition.

Passed up a golden one timer chance tonight so he can pass it to Chabot and watch him kill a cycle dead.

Either his wrist is cooked or he left something in 2023 and has never gotten it back.

Tage Thompson's pass from the slot to Peterka who then fed it back for a tap in looked like a pretty surprising 'one pass too many' at first but ended up a beauty. I was wondering at first why he would pass it to someone in a much worse shooting position there too.

You can do that type of thing when coverage breaks down as much as it did for us there. Jensen needed to stay focused on Thomson, but he turned his back on him in the slot as Timmy did a fly by,

Stu was lost on that play, so what should have been a 3 on 3 became a 3 on 2, and they isolated Jensen, but Jensen basically turned it into a 2 on 0 with his play.

I get a brain fart from Stu, he's still young and learning that you can't try and pull that type of soft defensive play on a guy like Thomspson, but Jensen is a vet and defended like an AHL'r there, heck, that was bad for the AHL.

What does our boy need? Mohawk? Full bald? Change it up Timmy.
I would say he needs to remove his head from his ass.
1 goal in his last 14 games
Lots of giveaways - especially on the PP
Its not effort. He gives it.
But most of the time these past few weeks, it's not pretty.

Cozens is trending the wrong way too.
