He could have felt a slight tweak from the injury he just returned from and decided to play it safe. I think the team is being cautious with injuries and trying to ensure the top guys come in as healthy as possible. Obviously something happened. Hopefully it’s minor.

I’d say it’s more likely he plays in LA than he misses the playoffs.

How does me saying "I have a feeling" lead you to believe that I'm jumping off the bandwagon and are jumping to conclusions. People are allowed to have opinions and my opinion is that I'm concerned about this injury, if it's a groin as has been speculated then it can last weeks and he might not be right in the playoffs even if he's playing. It's a valid concern.

You don't have to share my concern which is your right but I'm concerned. Not to mention the bundle of key players that have been out a while that will need time to get back up to 100% with the playoffs right around the corner.

Yeah I think its a few things:
- I think the game in general is just worse. I think all the gambling ads and game management have taken some of the credibility out. I think the media in general provides no excitement or actual analysis of the game
- I think the Oilers themselves are just more boring than they were previously
- People would rather do other stuff
- Everytime these boards have a major update, they lose more people
- Cant really post anywhere else than Oilers if you’re a fan. The site is pretty anti-oilers in general. Lots of posters love to bait Oilers fans and the mods are ok with it.
- In general its hard to really debate much because people think you’re being too negative or positive

Wasn't this stat corrected after the original tweet because it was pointed out that the Oilers have 2 regulation losses to Vegas (11/6/2024 and 12/3/2024) where Skinner posted a save percentage above the 0.900% threshold (0.912 and 0.938%, respectively). Nonetheless, the revised number remains a jarring reminder of how much goaltending matters.

The Oilers have in general played pretty well when their stars are out of the lineup. Tonight was another example but they should of against a SJ team.

Tonight guys like Skinner, Arvidsson and Brown stepped up. Guys you would hope would step it up.

I really hope the new management team, coaching staff and leadership group can figure out a way to more guys involved and more impact from more players once everyone is back for the playoffs. Unfortunately every matchup is tough in the playoffs with 16/32 teams making it. They really need to come together fast once the playoffs start.

Gotta say from seeing a few of Arvidsson’s one timer goals the last little while, I am surprised that he hasn’t had a more productive season than he has. Its a skill which very few Oilers have. I guess the good news is the way he’s playing is more what people expected when we signed him.

I checked a while ago and the Oilers have 3 reg losses and 2 OT losses with a .900+ sv%. I'm not sure if the other teams are correct either.

Sort of ironic that now that McDavid and Drai are banged up from carrying the team all season Skinner and Arvi both start to get hot.

I do think it has to do with their deployment this year (and injuries for Arvi).

Just get healthy for playoffs. If we have to beat the Kings in their own barn so be it.

These guys below get it. I honestly don't know what has gotten into some of you this year. The negativity is WORSE than during the decade of darkness. Every thread becomes ?? nope... Even when we win.

We can barely talk hockey anymore. Only villains.

It's HOCKEY!, anyone who's played, or watched their mite level or squirt kid play, should know that there are thousands of events per game when the game can change on a dime, every contested blue line matters, every puck chipped out, every puck bouncing over a stick, every pass bobbled, every coasting line change, every wide arc and exasperated sigh after losing the puck vs just jamming the breaks on and striding hard the other way. Every, every, everything is what makes this a true TEAM game and a beautiful one at that. Its chaos cannot be fully contained... Your only hope is to do EVERYTHING you physically and mentally can, recognizing your own humility (you cannot do it all, no one can) and trust that your teammates will do the same.

And yet the 'experts' around here always find a way to find a villain, usually the easiest and most available and vulnerable one. It's not productive. Everybody knows Skinner isn't winning a Vezina, nor will Perry or Henrique score 30 again.

It’s the constant non stop skinner talk and barrage of insults you get if you dont write a treatise on why you hate skinner from the usual suspects and the downright pessimism on almost every topic regarding the team. It was bringing me down.

I’ve been coming here since 2002. I come here out of habit, and now that ive made a conscious choice to try and break that habit and spend less time here, not have a tab open all day and/or periodically check in from work. I’ve been enjoying the games more as well as I’m not posting during games.

Also, I think a lot of posters who regularly posted here are probably just banned.

Its that really, even when Skinner had a great two months stats below.

And the usual suspects were still basing him at every turn, leading to pages of Skinner bashing in GDT for simply a goal being scored on him. Its a reason my ignore list has grown, and I don't have an appetite for making GDT anymore.

This team is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games mostly without McDavid, Draisaitl and Ekholm but if someone just read this board they might think we were back in the decade of darkness where everyone except those three were a waste of cap space. It can get kind of depressing.

Legitimate criticism is fine. But it is always so extreme. Every player is either great or a complete loser. And sometimes on the same night.

Also the endless complaining about players that are no longer here. The revisionist history to try to justify the continual moaning and groaning. They’re gone. Nothing is going to bring them back.

I don’t spend as much time as I used to here. I drop in and drop out, maybe make a comment or two during the game.

I started posting here way less because of the negativity. I’ve talked about it before. I’ll post a bit during the PGT and a bit in the GDT but I’m not posting during the game anymore.
