What if Murray was holding out re-signing Ristolainen as a negotiating ploy for his own contract???

i've literally never heard a Tim Murray interview where he hasn't mentioned going out for beers or 'buying a round'... love it!

Yay! Congrats Tim Murray.

He definitely earned this extension. Glad he will be around for a while. I really want to see him complete his vision on the ice. The players all seem to have tons of confidence in him too, which is huge. I've heard multiple times now that the players feel like they're building something very special here and they feel they have a chance to truly win a Cup. Guys only buy in like that when they have faith in the way the team is being run.

Ask around the Key and it won't surprise you

Sensible, I guess. Would have preferred to see results first

I seem to remember one executive saying over the summer that one of the most important lessons he's learned is to not hang out with GMTM after dark

It's true. The O'Reilly deal was agreed upon at 3AM after a night of drinking. It was written on a napkin.

Terrible news. Pegula has done a good job of surrounding himself with losers, and Tim Murray is no different. Literally. Only thing he's been successful at is losing. Silver lining here is that Pegulla has also made a habit out of extending people and then replacing them soon after, so fingers crossed.

he's done a lot, the question is how much of it is any good? He is a striaght shoot and gives good interviews....other than that we have had ZERO results. Team still looks like the tank teams on the ice. There was no reason to extend him. Not our money though. Terry can still fire him any time he sees fit
