boy, the guy can't lose, can he? Whistle your way out of a contract you signed while saying you're doing it for the good of the team you're leaving (of which you are the captain), enjoy warm vibes when the guys coming back the other way play well. Nice work if you can get it.

Looks like Nasher might be suspended after a hit to the head during the Panthers game.

He won't get anything. There wasn't even a penalty called. Kopecky turned as he was taking the shot as Nash was coming at him. Didn't look malicious at all in my mind.

This reminded my of a quote in today's paper:

"Then came the news that franchise player and captain Rick Nash had asked for a trade after he learned that the Blue Jackets had sniffed around a handful of clubs about a possible deal."

Was it common knowledge that they started investigating a trade before he requested/volunteered?

that was raised in the Around Hockey thread, where Samkow posted a clip of it.

True there was no penalty, but there should have been. Looked malicious to me, Nash left his feet and came flying out of nowhere.

Whether he'll get a suspension I don't know, but I think a game or two is warranted.

news to me. I don't remember it being presented that way, either.

I think that'd be the first time it was presented that way.

Keep in mind, though, that Nash said as far back as November 2011 (in an interview) that he wouldn't let an NTC stand in the way. If the trade request wasn't made until January 2012, then the time frames don't match up.

This sounds like revisionism to me. I'll take a wild stab at which reporter (not columnist) said it.

He should be suspended. He leapt up and elbowed the guy in the back of the head. They just suspended Lupul 2 games for a leap to the head that wasn't as bad.

What's his chance for next year?

No one knows. I think a lot of us hope he gets a chance here but for whatever reason(s) he didn't get much, if any, of a chance this past season. he looked good the previous year.

I think he's either on the team after a spot frees up for him with Nikitin gone or he is traded.

I personally think if the team wants to get faster, they need more skilled passers on the blue line to start the rush. Erixon should fit that bill.

I think they did to Erixon what they did to Savard and Prout. Had him up/down for a year when he could probably have been up full time just to see what things were like year round.

Problem is, it'll be hard to have him up and not pair two young guys together unless we keep Nikitin and move Prout instead. He does make our back-end more mobile though.

Tyutin - Johnson (hate this pairing)
Murray - Wisniewski
Erixon - Savard
Prout

Why worry about that? Our worry at D is how to find guys to cover for Wiz and Tyutin's gaffes and slow speed. The young guys are no trouble.

Terrible in WHC. EXTREMLY soft. He should go to KHL.

I'd like to know more about this.. Tim may have some unknown issues but soft is not one I've heard before.. Tim Erixon is the mystery Blue Jacket...

Not one person here knows why he isn't playing and most interesting of all the Columbus Dispatch is avoiding researching his status like the plague, almost as if they have been paid off to pretend he doesn’t exist... (Note, I said almost as if they have been paid off not that they actually have been)

Actually, we all know why he isn't playing. He was AHL eligible. He wasn't good enough and lost his job to Savard. When he did get called up he wasn't special after being pretty good last year, a step back.

Plus, they aren't that young. I have no problem having and 2 of those 3 together and, in fact, I would prefer it.

At this point Goloubef has played more or less the same as Erixon and yet no one seems full of angst about him. This constant concern for Erixon around here just seems weird.

I don't really get how someone can say 'no one knows' and translate that to some sort of conspiracy. Maybe it's as simple as him not being good enough. You know, like Goloubef....

Probably because he was the unknown along with the draft pick in the biggest trade in franchise history.

To me it seems like this is the likely explanation. A lot of hubbub but the answer seems straightforward- he could be sent down and not be exposed to waiver claims. Couple that with credible D play this year and you have what we saw.

That said, I am interested to see how this develops.

I think it has to do with expectations based on Erixon's rep as a 1st round pick with supposedly a high ceiling.

No. Erixon played important minutes for us down the stretch during our lockout season when the games meant something and did pretty well. Erixon clearly had a far more productive season in the AHL last season. I like Golo, but Erixon has a higher ceiling.

From my perspective I wouldn't call it angst. I think he offers things greater than some of the guys we currently have in our roster. In other words, I think he can help us win more games.

Confusion cleared?
