Jarmo has had more holes to plug than any other GM in the league and it wasn't even close. He has hardly been a whirlwind of activity given the cirucumstances.

Fact..... When the offensive needs were most pressing, he did nothing. He may have considered doing something, taken some actions which might have resulted in something being done, but at the end of the day nothing was done and a 9 game losing streak ensued.

Probably because, as has been repeatedly stated by everybody else here, and by both Jarmo and Davidson, everyone Jarmo tried to deal with at the time knew those needs were present and consequently were trying to rip us off by demanding ludicrous payments for marginal depth players.

I'm not sure what's so difficult about that to understand. It's a known, well-established phenomenon that happens to everybody in those situations; that's why you almost never see those sorts of rush deals, and when they do happen they're widely (and correctly) derided as horrible mistakes. It's almost as though you're being deliberately obtuse.

This thread degenerated far more quickly than normal. I would ask a couple of posters to please re-read what they are thinking and writing.

I always thought those were mutually exclusive. :sarcasm:

Morin picked #9...so we can all reflect on the fact that Colton Gillies is no longer the last to wear that number

Expectations aren't too high, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. If he can force Skille or Gibbons down the lineup I'll be happy.

Blake Comeau and Derek MacKenzie say thank you Kek, it wasn’t just us…. Talk about timing, win 6 and JD makes a move, lose 6 and moot... (JD is boss folks)

It’s been suspected for two years that Erixon was never really injured but the type of player the CBJ loathed.. Tropp and Boll are next…. Euro hockey rules in Columbus…

...Really?
Look, I'm going to be honest, even if Morin becomes just a better version of Boll or Tropp or whoever, that's fine. As long as it sends one of our other 4th liners to the bench. Hopefully Boll.

0 points in 15 games this season.
8 G 8 A in 54 NHL games.

Can he get it going here? What can we expect?

Discuss.

It's hard to have expectations given his stat lines. His stat line looks like Frattin's - excellent one year, and dropped off the cliff the next. Morin's got a bit more upside.. so we'll see.

I'm more amazed at people judging 4th line forwards on their point totals.

Look forward to seeing what the new guy can do. Wonder if he'll replace Tropp next game? Interestingly, I thought the fourth line had their best game on Saturday.

They did, even Boll had a couple good shots on goal to my surprise.

IF we were to ever get healthy, minus Horton of course. I think if Morin plays well, we send Chaput and Gibbons down to Springfield, waive Cracknell, trade Golobeuf. Then I believe our scratches will be Tropp, Leopold and either Connauton or Prout-though both have been playing well in my opinion and I would hate to see either sit, but they aren't going to sit Wiz no matter how many lapses in our end he has...

If you're content to buy their lip service, good for you. But their inability/unwillingness to make these kinds of moves earlier in the year led to a terrible losing streak. Even if that's what they meant to do, shame on them. I think that's either a bad decision, borne out by the horrendous, franchise-record-tying losing streak (nice job, Jarmo), or else it's the result of tentativeness to pull the trigger on minor moves to help a very young and struggling roster. You can apologize til the cows come home because it's so hard to get a deal done this time of year, but... waiver wire pickups require no deals, and for as hard as it is to make a move to help your roster: it's his job. Two other things- it's what he gets paid very well to do, and it's the thing he is here to do.

And for all the talk of the actual activity by this FO this year- you don't get to hang your hat on these moves and at the same time misrepresent those of us who think he should have done something by saying we expect anything like a big splash trade. All we've been talking about since before the losing streak were minor trades, waiver wire pickups, or small signings. We have gotten just those things so we were not wrong in our expectations. The FO was still too slow in making them happen, though, and we got to spend some time in the cellar because of it.

Look at the scoring numbers for our 4th line last year, and then look at it for our 4th line this year, then tell me it isn't a reasonable object of scrutiny.

i can't believe you're still on this battle...have you seen what the current price is for Tyler Myers? for Chris friggin Stewart?? the price to make a deal when we were in a desperate situation, would have been (and by most accounts) were too much to do a deal that made sense. This deal is a good hockey deal and I'm still fairly happy taht we held the course thru the tough times...

we sit 3 games back of a locked playoff spot in December...with a team we know is battle tested...and we have those extra assets we would have had to use to get someone earlier that come later, will cost less and be more useful in a race...

I have a hard time with this discussion because we're not discussing anything concrete.

Does anybody have some names they can throw out there - of guys passed through waivers between roughly Oct. 15th and Nov. 15th? Or guys who were definitely being shopped, that you think Jarmo should have bid on?

I'm pretty sure Pittsburgh was going to send Malkin down and the Caps Ovechkin but they held off because they thought there was a chance, albeit not a very good one,Jarmo would claim them.
