Lots of seats on fans first

Winnipegers trying to make a quick buck. Those seats will be full whether they sell or not.

One of the great things TNSE did was allow STH to resell their tickets for below ticket value on Ticketmaster. But this really hurts the chances of selling out the building because these will always sell before the regular tickets.

I think Winnipeg is the only market in Canada where a CFL team can actually affect the NHL team. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Blue Bombers, but it is a unique phenomenon. I was visiting family in Edmonton and Montreal this summer, and they didn’t understand why Winnipeggers would choose a CFL game over an NHL game.

Every market has its own unique characteristics. But when you look at it more broadly, having to work around football to some extent (pro, college or in Winnipeg's case, the CFL) is more or less the norm in most NHL markets.

I remember when I lived in Atlanta during the Thrashers years, they hatied Friday night games because of the conflict with high school football

Good point, Friday night (lights) high school, Saturday College, Sunday NFL. Football really understood how to divide up the pie early on, and for the most part they have stuck to their guns.

Attendance is something TNSE needs to keep driving....obviously..till the end of time...it's thier business...

the story is a joke. Pretending that the Jets are "struggling"
At our lowest it was still 85% capacity...with some of the higher average ticket prices in the league. Those are numbers a lot of markets would kill for.

There was a thread on reddit recently talking about NHL season ticket prices and people in some markets were paying HALF of what the Jets charge for season tix. HALF.

so for simple math

18000 x 2 is $36,000
15000 x4 is $60,000 x.85 for Jets WORST attendance is $51,000
Even with with another 15% knocked of for exchange rates" the revenue is still $43,350

even if that team was selling out?(they aren't either) they still make less cash than the Jets do with a 85% capacity...

I'm talking about All NHL markets not just Canadian Markets.

I mean I'm pretty sure Canadain markets Pay for most of the non Original 6 US markets.
our TV revenues are bigger, our Corporate sponsorships are bigger...etc.

So, the number that came out last season of 8k or 9k season ticket holders is actually less.... the drive to 13k originally was full season seat members.

I remember 7 or 8 years ago they introduced the half season option only available for P7's.

I always try to be optimistic about this subject, I want the team here for decades or forever honestly. I just cannot fathom how you let so many season holder's lapse (yes, I know people say downtown safety and prices) I don't think it needs to be the biggest story out there, but being sold out all those years was a sense of pride.

Two years old, and showing total gate revenues (so the average would vary by the number of seats in the facility) - but here is a snapshot of how much ticket revenues are earned by each team. Not exactly what you are looking for.....but what I found as I was also curious by your question.

Are they counting playoffs here? For Vegas to make $145M at the gate would mean an average ticket price of about $200 (based on 41 regular season home games). Nearly the whole upper bowl there is $100/ticket or less.

This chart implies the average ticket price in Winnipeg is around $115...which seems low.

Be interesting to see the attendance early on this year. My group of friends who are all hockey guys are saying the same thing, they won't spend the money it costs to go to a game to see this team. There is nothing to be excited about on the roster and hiring Arniel, who is not qualified as a coach to run an NHL team has soured them.

I am hoping we are wrong as having the Jets be successful is good for everyone, but its hard to really put much energy into the organization when they seem to shoot themselves in the foot.

Allowing fan favorites like Dillon walk away for nothing, losing out on the guys they traded for and not signing ONE free agent or making any changes just means the Jets will just repeat the same model over and over and over again. Sad that the once very passionate city has been lulled into being indifferent towards the team.

I find it fascinating that Edm is charging almost double that of Calgary. I realize the Oilers have been more successful the last 5 years or so but that's a notable difference. I suppose once the Flames have their building their ticket revenue will also increase significantly.

Yea, that's cause the Saddledome is a dump and the Flames are terrible haha

People don't pay to see the coach. Dillon isn't selling tickets. They did sign free agents (both goalies behind Hellebuyck were UFAs), JAD, Fleury are all new. Not like they had a shot at the bigger names anyway.

Playoff success will reignite attendance. Not Lambert or Chibrikov, or some new coach, or Brendan freakin Dillon. I'm pretty pessimistic on their chances to even make it this year, but the way the team will get people back is on ice success.

Why? The team is not appreciably different from last year's 4th overall team. They lost out to a hot Avs team that could have gone all the way had one of their star players not had a monkey on his foot (WKRP joke).

To miss out, all of Dallas, Vancouver, Colorado, Edmonton, Nashville, LA and Vegas, and one of St Louis, Minnesota, Seattle or Calgary (teams that ranged from 18 to 29 points behind last year) would have to finish above us. Short of Helly being out 4-6 weeks, or Arniel completely failing at his job, I can't see how this team could miss the playoffs. It's just too big a fall-off.

And just to keep it on topic, I don't think the playoff loss is enough to dampen the enthusiasm that last year's regular season created. I expect average attendance to be in the 14-14.5K range.

Its a reality, hell the Jets were having great success in the first half last year and struggled to get over 12,000 fans to a lot of games. Unfortunately Winnipeg doesn't have the corporate season ticket holders like most Canadian cities so they require regular Joe to fill the seats. With our economy, inflation and the entertainment value....I simply see the reality is....this team has almost nothing to excite the average Joe ticket purchaser enough to spend $250-$1000(family lower bowl) going to a game. I hope I am proven wrong....

People don't buy tickets to see Dillon, I agree, but he provided the Jets with a bit of an identity fans liked, a big D man, plays physical and stands up for teammates as well as played minutes. Stanley will have to pick the side up and after watching the playoffs last year, he had some things to work on this summer. Dillon was no Buff but anytime you lose a player who played with a bit of a edge and fans liked....its just another reason for fans to watch on TV instead of head downtown to the arena. How hard is that to understand?
