As debaucherous as I can be, I am still pretty true to not drinking before noon.

Even lunch drinks are usually too early for me. It just seems to never end well when I start drinking too early.

Hang in there. Just remind yourself air travel is actually much safer than any sort of car.
Thanks.

The other swim bait is almost done. I had enough fun that I've decided to make another:

Nice. Painting time?

Not quite. I need to seal the wood, add lead to get the balance and sink rate correct, then I can paint.

Learned some things from the previous lure that I hope will make this one better. I should be able to finish the other one tomorrow. Basically just need to epoxy the fins in and glue in all the hardware.

Looking forward to seeing the end result

Hour and half waiting to be de- iced but only 20 minutes late on arrival. Not bad. Didn't think I was getting out of New Jersey this morning but had a pretty pleasant flight.

I couldn't recommend Tulum more then I could. Was a fantastic trip

Been there twice, the ruins are obviously really cool. Probably some of the best sand I've ever walked on too. But I just don't think I'll ever go back to Mexico. Been there like 6 times and there are so many other places to go in the world.

But my personal favorite Tulum is a restaurant in the Dubai mall that overlooks the fountain and the Burj Khalifa ;). Was an amazing view.

For me it was the diving. Some great cenote dives in the area, and I was able to quickly get to Cozumel to do a couple of drift dives.

Cozumel easily the best reef dive I have ever done and I expect it to remain that way until I visit Australia or southeast asia

My wife and I went to Playa del Carmen a few years ago and that was an awesome trip. If we go back, we'd probably splurge on a better hotel this time though.

It's really a beautiful area. I definitely enjoyed being there more then Dominican Republic for example.

I doubt I ever go back to Punta Cana

Looks great. How long is taking you start to finish?

Thanks! Carving and sanding takes a few hours. Sealing the wood takes about a day for a full cure. Adding lead and getting the balance right is another couple hours. Painting about a day because I stink at it and need to walk away several times and rethink what I'm doing. Then the final clear coats take several days for full cure. So maybe 3 to 5 days. Most of that time is waiting for polyurethane and epoxy to cure.

Had a pretty cool trip to Key West. Had the opportunity to take a fly casting lesson with an incredible instructor.

Flew down just for the opportunity to get a couple of hours with this guy.

Over 35 years of casting a fly rod and I was able to learn something new and improve on what I thought was a pretty damn good casting...it was another one of those life lessons...never stop learning and improving. Pretty fulfilling quick trip.

I'm taking my little guy to his first live hockey game tomorrow afternoon. Totally random game, it's the Hartford Wolfpack vs Charlotte Checkers. Wish it made sense to bring him to NJ for a Devils game, but still.

Should be a fun time, and I hope to see him get excited about hockey.

You getting let go has been the best thing for you it seems. Having the opportunity to do things you actually want to do is a privilege and you sharing it with us makes it look like you are making the most of it. Keep going.

If I had an ounce of actual artistic ability I'd probably do something like this to my books:

My wife just asked me if I want to go see Iron Maiden in Prague on May 30th...

I chuckled and said some things are best left in the past. She said maybe Slovenia or Norway?

Definitely intriguing I told her, but I am too damn old and what's worse so are the fans and the band. Lol.

I'm sure there's plenty of people older than yourself at Iron Maiden concerts.

I wouldn't mind seeing them, but I don't really do arena concerts.

The last time I saw Maiden was like 2007...I really don't remember the year, but it was Dio, Motorhead and Iron Maiden at Madison Square Garden. The crowd was pretty mixed with young and old.

There were a surprising amount of people there just to see Lemmy and Motorhead that left before Maiden came on stage, that seemed to be an older crowd. Maiden surprisingly had a lot of young fans at that show...but some of it was Father and son kind of deal.

Went to my first NCAA D1 college hockey game last night. Sacred Heart vs Niagara. It was a good game but the thing that made me go check it out the most was this brand new arena Sacred Heart just opened up in January. It's a beautiful smallish arena with not a bad seat in the house. Tickets were only 10$ and the Devils were off so I had to get my hockey fix. Really the only downside was that these 2 teams play in a weak division that really doesn't produce many NHLers although I'm sure they produce pro players in other leagues. I would say this place is 100% worth checking out. It's only about 1 hour 30 mins to 2 hours if you live in Northern NJ like most of the fanbase. I live by Poughkeepsie NY so it was a tad over an hour away. Hopefully next season they get some good out of conference teams to roll in there for a few games so it would be worth seeing some drafted or soon to be drafted player(s). The quality of hockey regardless was very good and for 10$ a ticket + free parking it was a really cheap night out.
