OT: Thread About Nothing (part # who cares)

I’m not too worried about my house being destroyed by it, though it’s by no means unbreakable. But the last one may have taken out my place of work, and that one didn’t even make landfall anywhere near here. And my friends live over on the water. I don’t, and I have enough elevation where I am that I typically don’t get flooded, but this could be pretty bad for much of the area.

Yea, I do know if I look at those nhc surge maps and use that interactive one with water levels. 10 feet doesn’t reach here. It’s close and floods like near by creeks out, but it still doesn’t push water here.

But I’m assuming 15 foot surge does put at least a foot or 3 in the complex and parking lot.

I got I-75 right behind me. Literally. I can hear the cars down it and could walk to look at it I. 3-5 mins. I’m like right in the edge of the surge map if what they showed posisbly yesterday.

I wonder how long it would be before I could get into my apartment if it just has flood damage to the lower levels. Because one, I wanna make sure my shit is secure, or move what I can’t take with me. Also, I want to find out what happens if with rent, electric bills and internet bills if I can’t be in my place after for a month or so.

Leaving to avoid the storm is the safest thing. Fingers crossed it isn’t as dangerous as the last one.

I’m hoping it’s not.

I’d love to just hang here out of laziness and having to drive somewhere but I also don’t want to be with out electricity with my dogs c the heat, and needing to be able to work.

Nah. I’m staying put. Looks like it will be hitting about 50 miles south of me. It was right in my neighborhood going right over me two days ago.

I got a hotel in Georgia I’m going to. Some how my zone didn’t get an evac order. Idk how.

A bunch of the models don’t even show the track this many days out to even predict landfall. This storm may go north or south still.

I'm now strongly considering leaving to my buddy's on the other coast. The only thing is that he's in a mobile home, but I don't think it'll be THAT bad there. Not bad enough to destroy it or anything. My friends who were going to stay with me (because they live on the water) are leaving today for a hotel somewhere in Georgia. They already damn near got flooded out by the last storm.

I'm secretly hoping this storm destroys my house. I don't want it to destroy anywhere else, and if it destroys my place it probably won't be the only one. But if there's anyway it could level this place and spare everybody else's that would be amazing. This is my last straw with Florida.

There's 2-3 storms EVERY YEAR that I have to worry about. And I don't even mean 2-3 storms in the entire state, I mean 2-3 storms HERE, just where I live, alone.

This place is a shithole that rains NON f***ING STOP from the late spring, ALL summer and MOST of fall, and I mean NONSTOP from August-October. What's the point of being here? The summers are miserable, it's either too disgusting to be outside or it's just too wet. There's more sun in London and Seattle than here for a decent part of the year. You can't go for walks without getting soaked. You can't do outdoor activities because you only get a 10 minute warning for the rain. If you last the those miserable 6 months here, you just might have a nice, sunny and warm Thanksgiving and Christmas!

And now I may not even have a job anymore. I'm sitting on over a half a million dollars here. Let's say half a million after real estate commission and closing costs.

I'll miss my friends here, but I've started thinking about living a different kind of lifestyle. One that may allow me to return in the winter. I have so many people I can stay with in Jersey. I know where I can have a job TODAY doing landscaping. In the slow months I could come back here.

I officially HATE it here at this point. I loved it at first, it's like too much drinking. It's no good anymore.
