OT: Thread About Nothing (part # who cares)

I liked him as Batman, but thought that movie was cringe.

Through no fault of his own. It wasn’t awful.

He took heat for that because he replaced Michael Keaton, who I forget why he didn’t come back. May have been a money dispute. I think fans were mad that Michael Keaton didn’t play Batman and it was Val Kilmer instead.

But I liked him as Batman.

That was movie was cringy, but not terrible. Watched it about 4 years ago for the first time probably since it was new.
Did a Google and Google AI gave this explanation (pardon the yellow highlight as I have :

Michael Keaton was replaced by Val Kilmer in the Batman franchise, specifically for the film "Batman Forever," primarily due to a disagreement with director Joel Schumacher over the characterization of Bruce Wayne/Batman and a shift in the franchise's direction.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Tim Burton's Departure:
Keaton was originally cast for the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in the 1989 film "Batman" because Tim Burton was chosen to direct.
  • Schumacher Takes Over:
After the success of "Batman Returns" (1992), Burton stepped away from the franchise, and Joel Schumacher took over directing duties for "Batman Forever" (1995).

  • Differing Visions:
Keaton reportedly had a different vision for the character of Bruce Wayne/Batman than Schumacher, leading to a creative disagreement.

  • Keaton's Departure:
Keaton decided to leave the franchise before "Batman Forever" was filmed, citing the difference in vision with Schumacher.

  • Kilmer Takes the Role:
Val Kilmer was then cast as the new Batman/Bruce Wayne for "Batman Forever"

I was driving down the road and I saw a sign for an Iron Maiden cover band show in Dunellen NJ ...

I said to my wife "hey look at that"

She goes "at least they didn't put puppet show first this time"

Precisely why I am still married.
