Bunch of liars if you're not excited. Stop playing games
Reminds me of one of my friend's who prior to last season claimed he 'wasn't going to pay as much attention until the playoffs and won't be watching many games' but then messaged our group chat during literally every game.Bunch of liars if you're not excited. Stop playing games
Reave‘s little media scrum was more exciting than anything they’ve done in the past 4 yrs.
Amen to that. Not going lie, glad he's on our side, looking forward to his first game
Amen to that.
Biggest hole in the top 6 is 2C - I'm hoping someone (Domi, Nylander, or Jarnkrok?) can fill that. JT at 3C will help there.I don't understand how you can't be excited.
For the first time in decades there are no holes in the top 6,
in fact not only are there no holes in the top 6 for the first time since the early 2000's if not longer, but we have more top 6 caliber wingers than we need.
Marner
Nylander
Bertuzzi
Domi
Jarnkrok
Knies
They can all play top 6 minutes that's among the deepest group of wingers in the NHL.
I can't wait to see what Bertuzzi Matthews Marner can do together.
Or maybe They try recapture the chemistry Domi and Marner had together in junior and They do Domi Matthews Marner instead, regardless I can't wait to see it.
I can't wait to see what Knies can do in a full season.
I can't wait to see if Woll can take next step.
I can't wait to see if Samsonov can repeat or improve on his regular season, if he can then between Samsonov and Woll the Leafs could have a relatively young, cheap, strong goalie tandem.
Yes there are holes like with any team, but I think there is A LOT to be excited about this season.
Trade Nylander for futures and have Matthews get injured and be out for three months. I'm not expecting either, but it's an easy enough scenario.Miss the playoffs? How on Earth is that a realistic expectation?

Except for faceoffs, can he be worse than JT? At least he can keep up with Willy and whoever is on LW. But I'd like to see Domi or Willy get a chance there.Jarnkrok? I like Jarnkrok a lot but are you serious?
You must be trolling at this point
Sure, but you can say that about any team in any league. Chicago could also go 82-0, but it's about as likely to happen as the Leafs missing the playoffs. As someone else said in a different thread, the Leafs will probably have a playoff spot pretty well locked up by US Thanksgiving.Trade Nylander for futures and have Matthews get injured and be out for three months. I think JT is still better than we give him credit for as 2C. Look around at the other 2Cs and there are very few that are better right now than JT. Super cup contenders Colorado and Carolina have Johansen and Kotkaniemi as their 2Cs. I think the only 2Cs that outscored JT last year were Draisaitl (not really a true 2C as he plays a lot with McJesus) and JT Miller I think. Hisch and Malkin around the same range. I truly get the frustration sometimes with JT, he’s slow and prone to giveaways, but let’s not go overboard here. He’s still a top 2C.Except for faceoffs, can he be worse than JT? Of course, but that doesn't invalidate it applying to Toronto. And Chicago going 82-0 would require a lot more that one bad deal and one injury.Sure, but you can say that about any team in any league. Last year in 7 fewer games he produced 2 fewer goals and 8 fewer assists at even strength.producing offense which a 2C has to do
He's not that bad - 38th among centres in G/60 and 45th in A/60, so a bit better than average, but as you say, slow and prone to errors, and not good defensively.I think JT is still better than we give him credit for as 2C. I can see being 'unexcited' during the summer but once camp hits I don't get how any fan isn't somewhat excited.
I get that. Guess I’m just old school, once I close the pool and NFL is back I’m ready to embrace it again.Just don't see what's going to be different this year. Same coach, same core, pretty minor changes with some good names coming in and some good names going out. I was hoping for something that shakes things up after so many disappointing playoffs' but I don't see it.
I think by the end of November Toronto will be well clear of the 9th place team in the conference.Of course, but that doesn't invalidate it applying to Toronto. And Chicago going 82-0 would require a lot more that one bad deal and one injury.
A playoff spot locked up by thanksgiving? That's very optimistic, as well as ridiculous. By Nov 23 we will have played 17 games - do you think 34 points will be enough to lock up a playoff spot?
Which does not, by any stretch, mean 'locked up'.I think by the end of November Toronto will be well clear of the 9th place team in the conference.

It was in response to a "there's no possible way we could miss the playoffs" comment. But they aren't going to trade Nylander for futures and we know that, so why even bring up something we know isn't going to happen?
