I'm always happy to have the season start but this is the first time in a few that I've actually felt excited.

I think with the 2 rooks filling out the forward group to start the season, I really do feel like this is best team the Leafs have iced in quite a while.

Sure, the defense could use an upgrade or two but damn if that forward group isn't sexy AF! This is going to be a fuuun group to watch.

It’s the quality of the turnover that gets me excited. We’ve never added youthful talent like Knies and Minten, nor experienced skilled offensive talent like Bertuzzi and Domi. Klingberg will frustrate us at times but if he can be the best version of himself we’re onto something.

Hard not to be excited. Usually we just talk about the big 4/5 but this year we have established NHLers like Bertuzzi, Domi, Klingberg and Reaves along with rookies like Knies and Minten to look forward to!

I love the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sometimes I get disappointed with them. That's fandom. But I will ALWAYS be excited for Leafs hockey.

Great thread. Too many people showing their full ass this summer. If you aren't excited, don't watch.

We might even actually suck again, like, in the regular season like it used to be and not get to see playoffs.

Drop the puck and lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Knies, Woll, and Minten on the roster give this team the kind of youthful energy we haven't seen since 2016-17. Combine that with the high energy and charismatic additions of Bertuzzi, Domi, and Reaves and there's a lot to be excited about. Can't ignore the return of our highly skilled core of Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander and Rielly; as frustrating as they can be they're the reason this team is a contender.

TBD. I am looking forward to watching the new young pieces injected into the lineup and hopefully a faster and more mobile team, we really became a slow team the last couple of years. Bertuzzi and Domi should bring some entertaining elements to the team.

Your user headline reminded me that the main gripe for me is the coach currently. Not convinced he's the right guy to get the job done...

Call me crazy, but I think there might be a third line of rookies come mid season. If the Marlies develop Robertson on both sides of the rink, and he becomes his promise, Knies/Minten/Robertson might be one heck of an intriguing line. Otherwise, entertained during the regular, fearful of the playoffs.

I am always excitet when the season starts. If they switch Jarnkrok and Nylander at least, then i will be even more excited.

Oh it is.
As long as the main guys are still here and leading them, it's the same team.
And the same coach. The roster turnover has been different than previous roster turnovers of seasons past, but I see nothing that leads me to believe they'll do the thing.

Always hopeful for a new season.

Very much like the Domi and Bertuzzi additions. Paid too much for Reaves but I’ve gotten so sick of being soft. He will keep the other team honest and can’t wait for him to say hello to Sam Bennett.

Thrilled that Dubas, Kerfoot, and Holl are gone.

I hate that Keefe is still the coach.

I still think we are too weak on defence to be anything more than a good team. I wish we had moved on from Gio and Brodie and I think unless we improve during the season on defence, it will be our undoing.

Love me some Knies and happy for Minten, but I still think hat Minten would be better served with another year of Junior.

Go Leafs go.

If you're not at least somewhat excited at the beginning of each season, then you're an alien.
how about just not a true leafs fan!!!!!
I think the defense still needs work for the playoffs, but is good enough to get us there for now.
I see some major moves at the trade deadline (or even earlier) to bolster us.
Concerned on the left side mostly. Hopefully Lilly steps up and Brodie recovers somewhat, and between Klingberg and Timmins we have the right covered.
Gio scares me.

Agreed, we still need some moves at the deadline to shore up this D core. I’m assuming something is done to address it.

Three big question marks.
Can Liljegren take a step?
Can Brodie return to form/was the playoffs a blip due to injury/off ice issues?
Can Klingberg be Dallas Klingberg?

No yes's and we need a big move.
One yes and the D is "fine", maybe a depth piece needed.
Two yes's and the D is great, "" ""
Three yes's- f*** yeah

Lil is the key on D for me, he needs to be a horse this year.
