Plus he will have some GOTG movie(s) to do.

Apparently Thor 4 is before GOTG3. Seems lilke the Asguardians of the Galaxy will be short-lived.

Hela destroyed Thor’s hammer in the continuity. Cap wielded the hammer from a different time.

By having the original hammer destroyed then it gives leeway for the mcu to decide how to reintroduce the hammer for Jane.

Just my opinion, but I don't think they can continue to dip into the infinite continuity well for the movies. It worked once, largely because it was unexpected (for the majority of the audience) and because they had a lot of fun with it - but dip into that well too often, and death ceases to matter, cause and effect become trivial, and tension and intrigue are lost. That might be ok for the hardcore comic audience, but it will surely matter to the broad audience Marvel serves with their films.

Damn, I was hoping that we'd get a full movie with Thor a part of the GOG crew. Hemsworth has great chemistry with those guys and fits into their universe like a glove.

I don’t expect Jane to obtain the original hammer.

It will be interesting to see where her hammer originates from and how she ends up with it.

Im surprised Portman didn't cameo in End Game if she was returning to franchise.

I'm sure that was all about money. Not that Disney really needs to be budget conscious, but what is the value of paying someone way more money to make a real appearance vs using content they already have when the scene doesn't really require any acting?

And then consider how much money has been freed up now that Chris Evans and RDJ are gone. Plus not having Scarlett Johansson in movies beyond the Black Widow one. The three of them I'm sure were getting paid a huge amount for their roles. Some of those resources can be reallocated to a huge star like Portman now when they might not have before. Which is a little ironic, because I'm pretty sure the two women are friends.

Chris Evans was on his original contract, so I believe he wasn't making anything too unreasonable. RDJ was making a fortune though, as his contract ran out a while ago and was making a ton of money on each incremental movie.

RDJ also got a % of the box office for each movie he was in

At least Portman can act which is a decent start

Personally I would have preferred to see her in a a stand alone roll rather than the whole female Thor thing which is very much a Hemsworth vehicle imo but if it's well written it's got a decent chance of being watchable with her out front

I disagree.

It is painful watching her in most roles. She mailed in the Thor movie.

She is not a good actress. Very much a 'it's a scene' revealer. That could be some direction as well I guess.

I've given it some thought, and here's my prediction for how the movie will start:

Thor is working out with Star-lord to get in shape, continuing off the end of Endgame. Start off with some humor. But, all of a sudden, he gets a call / is told that Jane Foster is sick and leaves them to help her. From humor to a dark incident. Seems very Thor-ish.

Mcu takes concepts from the comics and uses them as a base for the story arc but doesn’t mirror the comic all the way.

Cap was worthy in end game to wield the hammer. That hammer has since been return back to Asgard during the dark world time period.

Completely up to the MCU how they wish to set Jane up with the Hammer. Odin was the one who “enchanted” the hammer to someone worthy. The dwarfs are the ones who built the hammer. So curious to see how she ends up being able to wield a similar hammer.

I’m actually very interested in Lady Thor coming to life, I have faith in Taika to revamp Jane, but not on the same level as Hemsthor, since that was largely due to Taika’s humour and allowing Hemsworth’s personality to mix with Thor. It’s hard for me personally seeing Natalie act the badass way Lady Thor does, but at the same time it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s good.

I’m curious who the antagonist could be, I think Gorr is unlikely since we’ve already seen his powers from Hela. My guess is an amped Enchantress. As excited as I was to see Adam’s cocoon revealed, with Thor 4 happening before GoTG3, this would’ve been the absolute best way to introduce ‘Him’ along with Lady Sif’s return.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Thor and others show up before this film. Even via end credits, it seems like you can have appearances that checks in on the various heroes at various points.

I was thinking, for example, that we'll need to see The Hulk at some point. He could show up in the various Disney+ series, but he's so special effects heavy that he's probably more ideal for film appearances.

If the movie is good then nothing else will matter. If the movie sucks then the decision to re-include Jane (who I thought more than wore out her welcome in Thor 2) will be ripped apart and rightfully so.

I loved V for vendetta and she was very good in it but I don't think that part tells us much about her playing Lady Thor, she would have needed to play V in that movie for me to get there

I am surprised that Portman returns to the MCU. I thought she was kind of sick of playing Jane because even though she is a smart character, she is mostly just the love interest of Thor and not that fleshed out as a character. I guess they re-sold the part to her that she becomes a main character down the line or something. Will be interesting to see her in an action role, I don't think she has really done one before.

Since then the overall quality of the movies have increased and maybe Taika sold her on an expanded role. She came back and did some ADR for Endgame so she was already back in the system. Just my guess, I'm pure spitballing so KanyeShrug.gif.

A few things probably led her back. First, I’m guessing they promised an expanded role. That was her issue the first time - she felt she wasn’t utilized enough. And she has a very valid point. Second, having Taika as the director probably helped. From all accounts, he’s great to work with, so why not? And third, money speaks. I’m sure she’s getting compensated nicely.
