Great road game.
Wheelr and Kane finally showed up this season.

I actually think the Jets have played pretty well the past three games but unfortunately came up a tiny bit short against the two best teams in the conference.

Since the start of the season, I've said that the Jets can go toe to toe with anyone in the league 5v5. Our special teams is where we get caught up. Once the Jets can fix those problem areas, people will find the Jets a little more tough to play against.

Re: Burmi being benched, I think he might have been injured. I'm pretty sure there was a play late in the second or early third where something happened to him and there was a shot of him leaving the ice and he seemed to be favoring his left leg... I'm think it was him anyway.

Took a few things from that game.

Despite the losses recently, I think that a lot of the Jets problem is the missed shots. If we're being honest, Buffalo was pretty terrible and the team let them hang around with constant missed opportunities. It should've been 3-1 or 4-1 after the second period.

Pavelec looked pretty good last night. I think he's getting back into things a bit. Yeah, everyone knows the high glove thing but I don't think he stops Pominville's shot anyway, even if he's good at high glove.

If we thought we have problems, at least the team usually competes. I haven't seen the Jets play as bad as Buffalo did last night in a long time.

That was Kane, he came back.

Speed, moving our legs, intensity, effort and the desire to win got us 2 points tonight. And we finally watched a team who did not want to lose. We stuck to the basics. Funny how effective that can be. I'm just going to quote myself after the Washington victory earlier in the year, because for me it is fitting, and if this team wants to take the next step, it's mandatory.

I have one hope stemming from this game, and that is I hope this game defines us. I hope it defines us not only from this point forward in our season, but for years to come. Each and every player should have went in the room after the game thinking and saying "that is how we play. If we play like that every game we can go toe-to-toe with any team in the league. If anyone doesn't feel like putting in the effort like we did tonight, take off the jersey and don't bother stepping on the ice." This game should be how the Winnipeg Jets play. Every. Single. Game. I want that type of intensity and effort to be engraved when a player puts on the Jets jersey.

There is no reason each and every player in that room cannot put the Jets jersey on for each game and play like that. The bar should be set. Anything less effort wise is failure. That is what I would be preaching to the team.

There is one thing you as a player can always control, and that is your effort. And if each player puts in the effort we saw last night, there is no good reason why this team and group cannot establish themselves as a strong team in this league.

For me, the bar is set because we've seen how this team can play as a group, we've seen the effort they can give, and we've seen the results it can bring. Though it has been 2 games we've displayed this effort and intensity, I have all the belief in the world that if we put forth efforts like this, we can dance with any team in the league and at least be in the game until the final buzzer. Sure the Caps maybe had an off night. Was that because of their own doing or was that because of how we played? Likely a bit of both, but I will say both teams began the game skating very, very hard, hitting and finishing their checks, etc. Both teams showed up ready to play, but we kept at it.

The bar is set for me. Anything less effort wise from this point out will be considered unacceptable. We'll have our off nights, I understand, but 3/4 of the time I expect the effort and intensity in which was displayed by our team last night (and in the Boston game as well).

I can only sit here and say I hope this is the turning point for our Winnipeg Jets this season. It's truly now or never for this team, this season. If we cannot put it together on this big road stretch, it'll be goodbye season and playoffs, and obviously the team knows it. At the end of the day it's likely a good thing to have 9 of 11 on the road so the team can get away from the pressures they face at home, they can gel and bond as a team coming through a difficult time and hopefully be better for it.

This is what is so frustrating about this team. They can show efforts like this, or prior in the season vs. Boston or Washington, but they cannot engrave it within themselves, they cannot repeat the effort and intensity needed to be great in this league. I don't care who you are, how talented you are or what system you're playing, every player can control their effort and intensity. There is no good excuse to not be able to in this league, the NHL, the best damn league in the world.

Anyhow, great effort, real solid game, now show me it again on Thursday vs. Carolina.

As for some individuals,

- Ladd was great. Ya he had that giveaway there but aside from that he was great.

- Little was great. Hustling as much as I've ever seen him. He was on his game, he wanted to win.

- Wheeler, hello 2012 Blake Wheeler, nice to finally see you. Sure he has been putting up some points, but until last night he was not demonstrating that speed and intensity we seen from him last year that made him so damn effective.

- Kane, love his speed and intensity. He can be an animal on the forecheck, all over guys. Sure he's got a flaw or two, but the kid has some elite tools.

- Ron Hainsey. He played like a top pairing defenseman last night. Though you never have to question his effort, last night he was a stud for us. Ron has stepped up HUGE in the absence of Enstrom, and also on the season. Blocked shots, minutes, shifts, etc. If he keeps this up, a team, perhaps the Jets, may very well pay him 4 million - EASY. A defenseman who can log 20-25 minutes and effectively do so gets paid. I hope we see a carbon copy of this games Ron Hainsey for the rest of the year.

- Zach Bogosian. Best all-around defenseman on the team, bar none. I have no questions about it. A true athlete in every sense of the phrase. For a guy who has not played since last April, his fitness levels and shape are off the charts incredible. I agree with those who say lock Zach up. 8 years would be great, and by that time even Trouba would be around 26-27. Bogosian and Trouba, perhaps Weber and Suter. I don't want to jump the gun, but I wouldn't count it out.

- Pavelec. Finally we got a game from our tender. Made some nice saves tonight.

- Slater and Wright had solid nights, really happy with Wright at this point. He is pretty well the perfect complimentary winger who can play the game to play alongside Slater. Tangradi looks to be a nice bottom 6 piece to. I think after a few games here Chevy made a good deal in ridding us of Ponikarovsky and bringing in a younger player with size, plus that 4th round pick.

- Thorburn. Didn't see much ice in the 3rd, perhaps not a single shift. I like Thorburn, but it may soon be time to get a player in there (like Wright) who can be trusted by Noel to take those regular shifts. Thor is a great guy in the room by all indications, the guys love him, but for me the coach needs to be able to use these guys and on a couple or few occasions now this season Noel hasn't had that trust in Thorburn. Perhaps ideally Thorburn would be the 13th forward here.

- Wellwood. I was all for bringing him back. Last season if we needed to get a line going, we inserted Wellwood. So far this season he simply hasn't fit in, and i'm not sure he ever will. I wouldn't be surprised, and I am hoping, we can get rid of Wellwood the same way we did with Ponikarovsky, and find a solid player (ideally with size) to fulfill his spot.

We have the player by player Fenwick (shots + missed shots) charts up at AIH:

Vanek, Hodgson and Pominville combined for ZERO shots + missed shots with Ron Ron on the ice. Bogo was surely a big part of that, but still...

Ladd, Little and Wheeler were scary dominant.

Kaner ended up in the plus despite a complete no show from his line mates.

James Wright probably had his best game. I am really liking this pickup. Pav was very good too, but nobody else did a ton.

Did you all watch the same game? lol, the posts on here - really? best game of the year for some players? Wow! TSN Jets can turn water in to wine.

May I make a polite suggestion - turn off your HD TSN Jets channel for one period next game. I know it does suck but go online and locate an away broadcast. You might be surprised at some the replays and comments they give. Just a thought.

The Jets barely beat a struggling Sabres team, I'm not too excited. I said last week that the Jets would be 2-6 over there next 8. This was one of the games I predicted a win.

If you don't think this is one of the best games the team has played collectively over the past half dozen or so, I'd suggest you've been watching a different team as well as a different channel. :sarcasm:

Honestly, thought the Jets played average; Buffalo played horribly - didn't care, no emotion, matador defense. Tyler Myers is playing AHL level hockey. I still think Lindy Ruff is in trouble.

Bogo shows very little rust and seems to have more hockey sense/awareness since coming back. Led the team in ice time. When we get Toby back, this team will have a pretty talented defense - with Trouba still in the pipeline.

I did, I watched streaming Jets game center that was TSN for the colour, and then I switched to the Buffalo feed for intermission with Mike Robitaille and the other guy. Let me tell you, they had piles of compliments for the Jets, and were using the freeze frames of showing the Jets and how they were shutting down the Buffalo offense. The comments they made about their own team...not so complimentry.

2 points is 2 points, and yes, many players finally had their best game of the season.
BTW: Best game does not always mean a goal or an assist; there is 200ft of ice that needs to be played.

Just can't take a little sunshine eh?

This is a Jets forum. It was a great game and people can think what they want, both positive and negative. Why would I watch an away broadcast?

We can be homers all we want here. If people think it's the best game of the year, more power to them. If they think it's the worst game of the year, great. It's not up to you to determine this for us.

Perhaps you were watching a different game? It was pretty obvious we got some of the seasons top performances from the likes of Ladd, Wheeler, Little, Hainsey, etc. It's unfortunate if you were indeed watching the same game and couldn't see that.

May I make a polite suggestion - turn off your anti-Winnipeg Jets attitude. I know it does suck but just give it a try, and perhaps watch the game objectively with an open mind. You might be surprised at what you see. Just a thought.

Your Winnipeg Jets: Who last night, Were Fuelled By Passion. That's gotta just piss you off. :)

I said earlier that if the Jets hit the net more often they'd be a lot better. They keep losing these close games because they don't take their chances. I thought they played very well last night, apart from that.

Ladd stood out yet again. Captain leading by example. 14th in the league now in goals with 8. Not bad for a fringe 2nd liner ;)
