13-5-2 and .921 in his last 20 games coming into tonight isn’t though.

Just imagine if we had a good goalie, that would be a .940

We play scared with Skinner unlike other good teams who have a legit goal tender. We dont allow a lot of shots and certainly not a lot of high quality shots. Those games (like today) where 1, 2, 3 cheezy goals scored in the first period put us at a huge disadvantage of playing our game, not to mention what it does to the spirit on the team. He just can't make a save when its needed the most, nor can he go 2 to 3 games in a row making saves he should save. We need a GD goalie and have always needed a GD goalie, we are not winning a cup with Skinner. Even our last run required the backup to get us out of the toughest series. If Bowman has a brain he'll not worry about another dman, go snag a top goalie such as Saros. With the cap going up its the perfect time.

Tough to win when your goalie can't stop a beach ball. Skinner is like usual so inconsistent. Hot take but promote pikard as a starter. I guarantee you he would be an upgrade. Even if he’s average that’s all the team needs. But obviously that won’t happen. Edm will never win with skinner. Last year was their best chance despite him blowing so many games for them in the playoffs.

My issue with Skinner is this...Can they win with him in net? Yes I believe they can, but his inconsistencies mean that there is absolutely no room for error. They need to win virtually every game that he gives them a chance in. And even them when they have done that series have gone too long.

Game 7 was a perfect example. Tough to blame the goalie if your team only scores 1 goal. But that second goal was a killer. If he stops that I think there is a legitimate chance that the Oilers overcome their inability to beat Bob and win that game. But maybe the real point is that they should never have gotten to that point had he played better in the first three games. Fuhr winning game one of the 84 final was huge. Even though the Oilers lost Game two that performance was an absolute key to the series win.

At the absolute top end winning is often a fine line. Sure he did have the odd game where he was the reason they won. But the emphasis here is on "odd".

The Mavs were sold to some dirt bags who are cheap. Doncic is due a supermax contract in a season or 2, as well as other re-signings they will need to make that would put them into luxury tax. Also, Doncic has had "conditioning issues". They apparently wanted better defense and a Center.

It's a braindead move. Doncic is a top 5 player in his prime, and AD is nearly 32. Mavs also made the finals last year and very well could have this year. Might be the biggest, and worst trade in NBA history that doesn't involve like picks or prospects that ended up way overshooting expectations. Imagine if we had of traded Draisaitl in the covid year for like, Pietrangelo.

Luka Doncic isn't Gretzky level obviously (Jordan is the NBA comp) but just in terms of the overall shock of it like when you say to yourself that there's no way this just happened, it can't be real. We said that on the day of the Hall trade but Luka is like ten levels higher than that.

I seriously think Skinner is in their heads. I know he’s in mine and in a lot of fans, as being questionable.

They seem to grip the stick, get pass happy when he’s in net, looking for the perfect shot. It’s as if they too know that every goal is going to be needed (so make every shot count) because Skinner will (or more often, has already early in the game) let in a couple of questionable shots.

As stated by others, he was the weak link last year in the SCF and shows no signs of shoring up his significant lack of consistency, week to week, game to game, period to period, shot to shot this year.
