What happened to the offense?

Many people would say the Leafs have underachieved considering they were lucky enough to draft a generational goal scorer in Matthews and 2 years later add Tavares, a former #1 OA , in his prime. Combined with Marner they should have won a number of playoff rounds.

There's 2 separate things here. Regular season and playoffs. Leafs have been very successful in the regular season and underachieved in the playoffs, I have NEVER said the opposite. And I think everyone is pretty well aware of the Leafs underachieving in the playoffs that has been going on for years

The results are that since then he's won one more playoff series than Brady. That's not pretty well. At all. They have severely underachieved.

Hossa never had a stink because he used to bust his ass in the playoffs and was the farthest thing from soft. Sens fans never wanted to get rid of Hossa; Leaf fans are ready to trade Marner after every first round exit.

Regular season success is better than none. Sure only playoff round won but Marner is 2 years older than Brady and has made the playoffs 8 more times... and his team has the 2nd best P% since he joined the league. Winning is fun. Look how much we enjoy winning right now even if no playoff round has been won.

Making the playoffs every year is certainly my first goal. Then of course we'd want to have more playoffs success.

Regarding Hossa, not saying it was the same stink or a deserved one but he even lost in his first 2 SCF, and some people were talking like if he was a curse or something.

You’re not a victim of not being Mr 100% positive - this is what you wrote about a team that is 3rd in their division

People acting like there was no problem might just prefer to bury their heads in the sand. I want to win and I want it to be sustainable.

Again... you were quoting a post that was made : "At the time of that post, we were 7-7-2 since December 22nd with only 1.81 GF/GP while being shutout 5 times in 11 games" then in retrospect say there is absolutely no reason to concern and say "enjoy the ride". Now there is a bit of relief after they scored 14 goals in 3 games but pretty much everyone in the fanbase was concerned by the lack of scoring.

You’re the problem because Ottawa is winning and winning over 50 games and you’re acting like they are about to fall off a cliff and after 7 years of horrible disgusting hockey they are good and you act like it’s fake and my point is - it isn’t fake it’s real and it’s here for many years so enjoy it

"you're the problem" : this is an entertainment, we are fans of a hockey team, nobody is "wrong" for loving/following the team the way they want. Someone calling others WRONG about the way they do it is the one who is the problem.

and lol what are you talking about I act "like it's fake"... no but I KNEW this all along though :

This is what I said in November 2022 :

"we're not going anywhere until the ownership/management/coaching trifecta is different. Need to sell this team like yesterday

We were saying this 3+ years ago as well"

I needed time to see what Staios and Green were made of and so far so good. I mean, they have no track record outside of Green who had a bad track record. It would have been silly to NOT wait and see, no? I still need to see the finish line and what they do in the playoffs too. I'm not going to do like Leafs fans and celebrate too early. And if I'm watching the games at this time of year and post on a message baord it's because I am enjoying the ride. In years of past, apathy was already there at this time of the season.

I know enough about hockey to know the Sens are for real, you do you and I’ll do me and let’s see who’s right come playoff time (hint - it’ll be me)

ok.. . so WHEN exactly did you knew the Sens were "for real"?

I mean acting like it has been CLEAR all the way is literally stupid.

Ottawa is 9-2-1 in their last 12 games but just before that, they were 19-18-3 with the WORST offense in the league since November 1st, barely able to score a goal 5 on 5.

Yep, you do you and worry and fret and find all the negatives the rest of us will enjoy the team play

Yeah what I have realized over that time is I just can't with insufferable homers, worst kind of fans and they make these forums a toxic place. Look at all this negativity from last night GDT. I was clearly not enjoying it :

- wow. Stutzle and Amadio back to back. This team is really hot

- I was looking at NHL Edge recently and Josh Norris was among the fastest skaters in the league. He's not in the Top-10 anymore but he's one of the best skaters out there. If his production can be at least 0.75 PPG, he's a keeper!

- Josh! Are you kidding me? Man if this guy is back to 2021-22 form, that helps the rebuild tremendously

- Matinpalo shot was 93 mph! It looks like he has a bullet

- If the guys can think that the monkey is off their backs, then it could really help down the stretch, we'll need Batherson, Tkachuk and Stutzle to be at their best. It's also a statement game from Sanderson, who could have known that playing away from Hamonic would help him that much? Jensen needs to come back asap to not mess with Chabot's season. Also, very relieved about Pinto and Greig, they have been much better for a while now and frankly, they are key to the rebuild and the depth for the forward group.

Sorry if my positive posts are not "homeristic" enough for your standards, I'm a bad fan after all.

Stats are for losers - Bill Belichek.

A team's record and the number of goals scored are just "stats for losers"???

lol I can't fathom how ridiculous this is :biglaugh:

I mean, if the W-L column and scoring more goals than the opposition are stats for losers, how do you even "enjoy" what your team is doing that much?

And good job at avoiding the question.

The PP is clicking again and they’ve been incredible on the PK (4 goals in the last 3 games) so that’s helped a lot with the offensive surge.

Out of 14 goals in the last 3 games, 4 have come 5v5. It’s the biggest area they need to focus on, if they can figure that piece out the Sens will be really hard to beat.

reuniting Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux , Norris turning the dial up a couple notches, More aggressive PK, Greig-Pinto-Amadio shut down line creating offense with good defense. Chabot has been really good at transition even without Jensen
