but you can rely on him...he was good when the games were the biggest (ie. elimination games)

there's not a single goalie out there that guarantees consistency

hell, Bobroksky wasn't even the starter in 2023 when the Panther made the Cup run and lost to Vegas
I am convinced this guy is 11 years old or just likes trolling now. An 11 year olds brain isn't fully functional yet.

I can't explain it.

So how did Crosby and Malkin win their first Cup in 2009 under identical circumstances? What's the difference?

GOAL.

TENDING.

Of the 3 Cups they have, how many would they have with Stu in net? ZERO.
How many game 7’s did the penguins win scoring one goal?

saying Connor didn't score in games 6 and 7 isn't "shitting on him"
its the truth
Yes, it's called Perspective. for the love of god.

Seriously, are you related to this goalie lol.

see? you have no argument

thanks for coming out
I wrote you out an entire argument

Here is a question

If Stuart Skinner starts every game in the playoffs, does Edmonton make the finals?

Just a one word answer will suffice

I really hope you answer this one

How game 7’s did the penguins win scoring one goal?

They were all low scoring and they won all of them. First team to 2 basically wins almost every game 7 because the other team will shut down shop and play full on trap at an intensity that you can't f***ing compare to a regular season or even regular playoff game.

Once a team can taste a Cup as being like a period or two away, good luck trying to score an equalizer goal, it ain't happening.

Same shit happened to us in 2006.

the truth hurts

2006 we didn’t have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl though right? Team was built a little different. Like you said race to 2. We lost.

The whole "well we made the Finals in 2024, so it means we're gaurunteed a spot in 2025" shit also needs to stop. That isn't how this works.

For all we know this year you might not get as fortunate of a run of wishy washy goaltenders playing against you until the Finals. There's no guarantee of that whatsoever. Last year we did get fortunate in that regard.

It is a team game and some guys have more importance than others, hence our 2 biggest boys

It's not even about them. Take playoff save %, etc. That's how "Moneyball" came about

Numbers are everything (almost) in hockey.

They dictate what can happen

Until you run into pdo flukes like VAN

EDM had Gretzky PITT had Lemieux, I can't count them

Similar shit, Markkanen gave them a bit of a softie and it was over. If you're down 1 at about the half way point of a Finals Game 7 ... wrap that shit up. You're not winning.

nothing is a guarantee.....if goaltending were a guarantee then the Jets would actually win series, except Hellebuyck turning into a pumpkin during the playoffs

Well I mean if your scoring one goal through 60 minutes of play your definitely not winning.

It must be nice being a fan of a team you hate. I am almost positive had the Oilers won the cup last year you would still be on here calling it a fluke or a one off. I seem to remember goalie Bob not looking that great at times during that series. I think there is CP posters that like the Oilers more than you.

Gretzky and Lemieux actually never won shit without having top level goaltending (relative to their era opponents) and virtual All-Star teams around them.

What McDavid/Drai are trying to do is way, way, way, waaaaay harder, they're being actively handicapped by their own front office that hasn't given them one reliable goalie in an entire decade. Has to be one of the dumbest management stories probably in the history of pro sports honestly, how many generational players in the NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB deal with this much nonsense?

Because I don't tolerate shit management.

My point about game 7s stands.

You keep absolving Skinner and not admitting he is a problem. I do agree that our best guys didn't produce when we needed to

It's about the entire journey, not 1/2 games
because I don't think he is....this team isn't losing games 5-4 and 6-5
he's an average goalie getting paid a below average salary

could they upgrade on Pickard? sure....but it guarantees nothing

Why do anything then? There's no guarantee any move at any position does anything.

You make upgrades as you can to improve your odds, that's the whole f***ing point of management, not to sit there and be like "dur hur, I can't find one goalie in 10 years".

That's not how a top level team conducts itself.

You and the other guy are basically saying that damn Pisani, why didn't he score another one or two. Marks did his job well

He took us to game 7. That is the point.

I hate skewering people. Skinner seems like such a nice guy, etc, but why do people get attached to mediocrity.

It astounds me.

If you're wife comes home and shes in the mood, do you want to hop in the bed with her not shaven or showered. That's how Edmonton is.

There's a lot of posters here honestly who haven't seen a good goalie in so long they don't even know what one would look like. Talbot was a tiny window, Roloson is like almost 20 years ago a lot of these posters were kids when that happened or don't remember it at all.

In general the Oilers haven't really had a franchise goalie in like ... shit ... 30+ years? Curtis Joesph was probably honestly the last one.

I am banging my head now

Do you like an average goalie?

Go look up guys way above him with a min of 20 games played with better numbers and less salary

Christ Roloson took us to the finals 100%

They are so conditioned to shit goaltending
