Hilferty interview on STG:

1. Wants to make South Philly more of an entertainment hub, I took this as...they are going to put in some parking garages, and take away some parking lots. Restaurants, apartments stuff like that are on their way

2. He said he tells Torts often he has to embrace the new way of thinking and playing

3. Likes interacting with fans

4. Doesn't want to meddle into team decisions, has full trust in Danny and Keith

5. Wants the Sixers to stay, thinks that their moaning about scheduling conflicts is false, and says the Flyers and Sixers alternate each year for "first pick" or something

6. Oh yeah - apparently they are working on traffic issues, especially for Eagles

My thoughts:

1. He comes off really well in the interview, lot of corporate talk, but he knows what the fans want to hear

2. I liked how he told Torts this is a new era and new game, gotta adapt

3. I'd be curious to see what they have envisioned for South Philly in terms of new construction? Please fix Eagles traffic. Please

4. Ill give this guy a chance - he's said all the right things so far

Thank you for summarizing because I can't stand ASF's voice anymore.

Love Therien still even though he has all the sophistication of an anvil.

How is the parking at Lincoln Field nowadays? I'm going to the soccer game there on Saturday.

Telling Tortorella to get with the times is futile. Nice thought I guess. Too bad Jones and Flahr are probably telling him to keep being him though. Briere probably is too.

Perhaps Hilferty will find more success in the "getting with the times" front if he first fires everyone with any tie to prior regimes.
i imagine Torts told him to f*** off..

theres 0.0% chance Torts changes how he coachs cuz Hilferty said to 1 time...

Down here in Atlanta the did that with The Battery and Truist Field. It is an awesome place to go for food, shopping and fun. The brave make millions off the shops there. I belive I heard it was one of the most visited places in the world (in term of number of people) the last couple years.
It would be a great idea to do this.
That being said, they moved the. Stadium to a much more wealthy and nicer part of town.

Yeah, the issue with the South Philly sports complex is it might as well be in the desert. I don't think throwing a Chili's and a Mitchell & Ness store there is gonna make it a destination.

Well, there you go, for all those worried his career was over, it took a couple months for him to get a job in hockey. Such consequences, his life is clearly ruined.

Who cares?

You all think he deserved life in prison for pushing a f***ing wheel chair down steps?
Yes. That’s exactly the penance we were clamoring for. You can imagine how deeply disappointed we all are.. maybe he’ll screw up again, and they will put him in front of a firing squad. Also, sorry dad, we’re castrating you. Can’t risk any more offspring.

Yeah, the sports complex would need to be moved to Jersey or Bucks County to make it work like the Battery in Atlanta, imo.

The Battery works because Cobb county is so densely commercial and residential... and it's like 15 minutes from mid-town. It's widely successful despite the fact that there's virtually no public transportation access because it's essentially right in the middle of the affluent burbs. I've literally seen people riding bikes and/or walking to Truist from neighborhoods on the other side of Cobb Parkway.

I really do hope Philly does something like it. It's a pretty awesome spot to be honest, even when there are no games going on. I went to game five of the world series a couple of years ago and it was probably the best non-college sporting event atmosphere I've ever been to. One side benefit as well... a battery setup also eliminates some of the tailgating rift raft that you get in South Philly.

Gritty promised to wear a Barbie outfit to Oppenheimer if he got 10k re-tweets and he kept his word.
