That's all well and good but what happens when TK gets injured? Or his stats drop off because he's playing on a line with literal slop? All while increasing our point total along the way. I'm not saying trade him for anything but this organization has proven time and time again that they only trade people once they've driven their value into the ground.
I didn’t say don’t trade him tonight. I said don’t trade him tonight for anything less than your high price. I can’t guarantee Konecny won’t fall off the planet but it’s not likely. He’s a prime asset. I’d prefer they wait for the right deal and have to sell him for less than just sell him for less up front. Be bold and mighty forces will come to to your aid.

Ant clarified whatever was said here earlier about the internal belief is that 'if they get everything right they can be competitive in 3 years'

I think if they're trading Sanheim, they should be focusing on someone's d-prospects, and not 1st round draft picks now, unless someone's gonna do it soon.

Well, they're off to a good start, in 3 years they may be potentially adding an elite forward!

Id be okay with Briere trying to move TK and Laughton for a 24 1st and hope they get an extra lottery pick...but literally no one trades 1st that arent protected anymore.

Problem was if everyone saw this as a deep draft, they didn't want to trade 1st rd picks.
Easier to get a package around a 2nd rd pick and a 2024 1st.

This just isn't true based on the reporting. St. Louis and Toronto specifically were looking for NHL help, not more prospects. Lots of insiders hyping up the Blues specifically are pretty shocked right now.

So which teams have a bad 1 year contract we can take on for a 2nd round pick?
islanders have josh bailey, problem is their 2nd round pick isn't until next year. don't know that you get a 2nd to do that.

i think the most likely thing is packaging a 2nd next year and a 3rd this year, maybe another pick to accomplish something. they have all year to find another 2nd. like, when they trade josh bailey.

Weren't you just saying a ton of trades were gonna happen? Something about mixing prescription drugs and alcohol?
Generally, trades happen after pick 15-20, when teams that are contenders weigh a good but not great prospect who'll take 3-4 years to arrive v a player who can help you win now. Obviously, that didn't happen this year, which suggests that teams valued their picks more than most years.

Reporting is fine, but I'll go with "revealed preference." The only trades where 1st rd picks changed hands was Newhook.

Similar to Florida and G, maybe teams knew the Flyers will be fine taking 2024 picks in the end.

Laughton 2023 2nd and 2024 1st

Sanheim - I’d like to think the same. Sounds like we might have to add a 3rd this year or something

Trades have been very underwhelming recently so just take the L and get picks.

I'm cool with that. We have (and will likely gain more) a ton of draft capital it if we have to dump a pick in order to get good value for Sanheim pull that trigger.

I guess if you were looking for a 1st-plus for Sanheim, and there’s a guy who is top 20 on your board, are you ok with the principle of getting less if you think it raises the ceiling of the value you’re getting?

I think with a move with Sanheim, you might see a 2nd rounder plus a former first round draft pick. That would give them the value they want but who the hells knows

Once the draft is over, I am hoping that Flahr gets a job offer from elsewhere (like Arby's) that he can't turn down. Same with Lappy. Neither of them Briere hires, but logistically difficult to replace so close to the draft.

Then we start the decay clock on Jorts - also not a Briere hire - and hope that his inevitably caustic nature blazes a way out of this mess for us.

It is almost certain that Torts will not be here when Michkov would arrive. This is all that matters.
