I haven’t looked too hard, but Hagens seems to be consensus #1
If that’s the case, nobody has any business leaking or talking (speaking of reporting), unless they’re in for the tank. They can get 10 1st round picks for Konecny, the only way they get him is by being a bottom 3 team and winning the lottery

What level is Hagans supposed to be at? I thought Michael Misa was supposed to be that guy this year.

The way I understand it is that Hagens is the clear 1OA and then your preferred guys from Frondell, Misa, and Ryabkin are the other star potential Fs if the draft is today.

None of it makes sense. They will never tank because they are beholden to torts who wants to eke out every point possible. They can’t handle what they think are the financial ramifications of tanking- low attendance and fan disinterest. They also think tanking would harm the young players they want to instill a winning culture in.

1) torts has always been the wrong coach for a rebuild
2) the fans would get behind an actual youth movement
3) they don’t have a particularly young or talented core to worry about instilling a culture into

Their solution is to hope to luck into a couple nice pieces- like Michkov- while they wait for cap space.

also he had same agent as TK- they have a number they are sticking to- 8yrs at $8.5 is what he thinks it will be but they’re asking for more than that. “Other teams would be willing to pay…”
TK, playing out his contract to go FA, would go far to icing the cake on a bad season. Add Tortorella to a contact dispute and things could go off of the rails pretty fast. Next to Couturier, Konecny has to have the most juice with his teammates in the locker room. If he gets sold down the river in a deal, it isn't going to play well with the guys.

Among the billion other things that don’t make sense- you’re watching the Coots albatross contract play out before your eyes, and you’re itching to enter into another, even worse, one?

Presumably he would be moved by the deadline if he’s not going to extend.

So, Hagens is the Bedard, and Frondell, Misa, and Ryabkin are the Fantilli, Carlsson, and (should have been Michkov, if not for geopolitics) Smith? Sounds like we need to try and get down to the bottom two, then. Not going to happen, but that's the only way to guarantee one of the four.

Don’t bet on that. The makings for that are there.
I mean, anything's possible, but I don't see a scenario where we're worse than San Jose, Chicago, Montreal, Columbus, or Anaheim, and that's 6th place right there. Yeah, we haven't materially changed other than by adding Michkov and moving Atkinson, but none of those teams added world beaters either, and they were already worse than we were. One or two other teams having a bad break or two with injuries, and we're at 8, then some Philly lotto luck and we're picking 10th.

I get the Charlie hate but he also needs to toe the line. We all sit here and trash the organization but if you were working with them in a way he is, we wouldn’t be. He needs to not burn bridges that hurt his potentials of becoming and remaining the best writer for his career. We don’t have that issue here.

Same as whatever line of work you’re in now. You’re not trashing your clients/colleagues/potential clients where it’s readily available to all. Have to have those considerations when talking specifically about beat reporters and even national reporters.
Maybe he want to become President? who knows with this org!

There are a lot of outlets, or voices that are critical of teams up here.

Don’t dare yourself to believe that if the Bruins or Rangers had a decade + like the last - they would be given such a pass by a p***y media team.
