Writers create crap just to get clicks these days.
Kurz on the Athletic has Cates as the 13th forward.

This is what Cates did when he returned in the second half:
xGF 63.56%, HDCF 64.49%, pp/60: 1.68
Hathaway
xGF 62.26%, HDCF 67.96%, pp/60: 1.21
Poehling
xGF 59.55%, HDCF 62.12%, pp/60: 1.37
when they plugged Lycksell into the 4th line
xGF 59.69%, HDCF 58.26%, pp/60: 1.83

They've tried Cates at C with Foerster and Brink in the first game.
I'd like to see those three against better competition, but something to watch.

The problem with the 4th line last year was great possession metrics, but Hathaway and Poehling struggle to finish. So you want someone who can take advantage of a great forecheck. Maybe Laughton moves to 4LW, maybe Lycksell, maybe ???

This is why Briere says you can't predict chemistry, like last season, some lines just "click."
So at the end of the day the actual points matter. Crazy.

You have said you don't want Ollie on the 4th line. Has your stance changed?

Do you think Cates is better at center or on the wing.?

The median 4th liner scores 13 ES points a season.

Your not going to get scoring out of your 4th line (or your third for most teams, median 3rd line forward scores 23 ES points), so you want defense and fierce forechecking.

So name all the 4th lines that do that better than Cates/Lycksell - Poehling - Hathaway did last season.

RP and GH were not played exclusively on the 4th line. Especially RP. You have said you cant play Ollie on the 4th line. Now you saying they can. Which one is it? Either way the Flyers have a solid 4th line. Big fn deal.

Do you think it is wise to pay your 4th line over 6 million combined? Looks even worse when your not a playoff team.

Alright here’s a couple tidbits I have heard with talking to some people… take w a grain of salt as always

-Farabee is in line to be the next captain, or get a letter, he is heavily relied upon with getting new players acclimated and the “Farabee crew” is a very real thing, “think the Richards/Carter/Upshall/Lupul days”

-Expect some load management early on from Torts on Coots. Relationship is better.

-Kolosov seems invested on giving this a fair shake

-Michkov’s english is blowing people away

-Players very happy with way Hilferty, Jones, Briere have handled the day to day of being a Flyer… Flyers are pretty first class to play for historically, but I get the feeling the last crew wasn’t around very often LOL

With hopefully less pornstars, cocaine and questionable ethics involved.

No offence, but is your source Briere? This sounds supremely positive.

Farabee is a guy I could see breaking out this season.
That neck injury set him back, but he's still only 24 and already a top six forward (offensively).

Porn stars are fine, good aerobic workout.
Cocaine, not so much. Tends to degrade long-term performance.
Ethics, well, we don't need another Hart situation.
How much long term performance do we need? Cocaine may be a good short term performance enhancer and NHL players' careers are what, 10-15 years?

I was talking to my doctor down at the hospital
He said, "Son, it says here you're twenty-seven,
But that's impossible
Cocaine you look like you could be forty-five"

Mmmm momma come here quick,
That old Cocaine 'bout to make me sick
Cocaine, runnin' all 'round my brain

Yeah good point. I withdraw my support for questionable ethics. The rest remains.

Interesting that Homer is allowing Richards/Carter/Upshall party wagon 2.0 to be created. Team must be comfortable with the character of Farabee et al.
