Isn't Zuccarello still banned from National play because of the stupid betting monopoly in Norway and he signing a sponsorship deal with a foreign betting company?

They agreed that he could be back if he backed out of the deal with the betting company, he did that and he got to keep the money too..

In tonights game he looked a little tired, but hopefully his mom is still in Manhattan doing everything for him..

I wonder what kind of money he'll get next year. Is he a ufa or rfa?

Actually he is still RFA next year. To be UFA you need to turn 27 before july 1st. He turns 27 september 1st.....

So Rangers still have the upper hand after this season too, but if he continues this play, he will for sure get an extension.

Have mentioned it before, but I really like Zucc as a PK'er. He's quick and has good stick-check abilities. Hope AV keep using him there.

if he'd just kindly start lifting the pucks up into the netting instead of hitting the pads every single time, he'd score more frequently.

If he keeps shooting the goals will come but he has to have that goal mentality. The kid just likes to set up teammates. He has to think more selfish at times.

I don't understand why Zucc is suddenly doing so well on this line.

As I see it, he isn't a great scorer and a liability along the boards, so what is it he is contributing on this line, what is his role and why has he found it?

Kreider has size, speed, he can go to the net, lead a rush, or dig in corners.
Stepan has speed and skill, he can lead a rush, shot, and distribute the puck.

Zucc has speed and is small, so he can nimble his way out of the corners with the puck?

I think hes riding shotgun more than anything. Kreider's improved play is the catalyst.

No doubt Zuccarello is a creative player, but hes not big or strong enough to find the time and space needed on a consistent basis.

Guys are skating to the open spaces and Zooks helps find them. He is not going to bowl people over usually. He has a high hockey iq and he uses it to find the open man or in the case of Stepans goal anticipate where the man is going.

I disagree. Zuccarello has a knack of going into a corner and winning puck battles against much larger players using quick hands and his feet. He positions himself to pick off passes as well better than almost anyone on the team.

I think most fans that watch the games see exactly what you just said in regards to the corners and puck battles. The guy is very good behind the other teams net. One of our best behind the net.

Zuke has a superb hockey IQ. Thats why he's here to stay. World class when it comes to reading the play and getting the most of any situation.

Kreider always seems to make the first play when that line scores. I do not think it would be a stretch to say his size and speed have been the most important factors.

He has to get extended for another 2 years . Rangers don't look ready to move on plus I think his best years could be upon us

Zuke has made me eat a lot of crow over the past few games and I'm 100% for it.

St (epan)+(K)reider = Strider
Zuccarello = The Hobbit or Frodo

Stepan-Kreider-Zuccarello =

Tolkein's Heroes?
The Fellowship?
The Ring Bearers?

(provided you want your line nicknames to be complicated and tedious)

Again what is his role on this line and why is he now being consistent as opposed to most of his NHL career?

why does every line need a nickname. boooo

Hey, I'm not at fault for the way my brain works... Plus, that's a long Ranger tradition you're booing ;)

It's streiderello! This is why we can't have nice things.

I've seen that before and will continue to think it's just dumb. No effort at all.

Definitely not this one.

But it's a play on Hogan's Heroes! C'mon!

Again what is his role on this line and why is he now being consistent as opposed to most of his NHL career?

Because he's got a coach that doesn't have q balls for eyes? What do I know. I'm not God. He's been consistently good in my opinion, with some exceptions. Mostly off season, on this board.

If you look back you will see that Zucc has been praised through most of his NHL-career. However, he had an unfortunate injury and a short non-performing stint. However, with so many posters already setting his failure in stone, whatever short stint has been completely blown out of proportion.

If you take some time and look through threads like this you will see that for the vast majority of time we love this guy. But every offseason his size and weight stands out and we are not reminded every week with brilliance on the ice and this is when people bash on him the hardest.
