I think playing the PK has a big effect on Zooks mentally and pyshically.

It shows the coaches confidence and it lets him really skate keeping his legs warm instead of sitting 10 minutes in between shifts sometimes.

i'm loving Zuke's play. he's making a lot of quick and snappy passes which really electrifies our offense. i even see a lot of good stuff in his board work and forechecking. that PPG shot last night, a thing of beaut!

A real subtle play that was nice last night was he saw Steps crossing the middle to the right. Zooks banked it off the boards around the dmen at the point to a streaking Stepan in stride. It gave Steps a partial breakaway that he just missed. It reminded me of another clever short pass from the wall the wall to a in stride Nash in last seasons playoffs.

I seriously want to know when Zucc became such a complete player. He does board battles (and wins a nice handful of them), keeps possession, sets up plays, has a great shot, PK's, shootout wizard, is physical and will stand up for teammates. Seriously where did this come from? Did Paul Maurice give him a special potion in the KHL?

He always had that potential, all he needed was the chance to show it. He did it for two seasons in Connecticut (Especially in his last season there when Gernander put him in situations he knew Zuccarello needed to show he was capable of handling)

Some stats for Zucc last night..... 21:19 TOI, only McD and Girardi had more.
4 mins PP. Plays in PK. Scores a goal. Not on ice on any Florida goals. AV starting to really trust the little man.

There's probably a lot more to the picture than Fenwick, but becoming pretty sure Zuke will not clear waivers on this salary. He's in a pretty good company on this list, and wouldn't be surprised he would be dead last among the top 30 if you ranked them by salaries.

Eff me, he even tops HART (= Hockey Analysis Rating Total) if you search by the last three years too. I'm not a stats fanatic, but it does say a lot. Worth noting he has half the TOI than the rest on the top of the list, but it's still over 730 minutes

The HART ratings are a bit weird, they give some nonsensical results. I've seen many players with lower FF%, better teammates, and easier competition get a better rating than a player with better FF%, worse teammates, and more difficult competition.

But a "regular" adjustment for zone starts, teammates, and competition puts him 5th over that period among players with 400+ minutes behind Bergeron, Shore, Gallagher, and J. Williams.

I think he at some point just fell right into the cauldron. We all know that can have long term effects

Why would Zuccarello be put on waivers in the first place?

Because his size renders him too small to play in the NHL.

But on a more serious note, that argument is worthless since its obviously not accurate.

Any comment about Zucc being waived is probably a stab at those who were baying for blood after the absymal start of the team.

Just an amazing turn around from....what two weeks ago? It looks like he's really got it now. A brilliant passing technician. Maybe one of the best I've ever seen. If his shot and skating were as good, this would be one seriously dangerous player.

He was never going to be put on waivers in the first place--who thought that up? Was there anything factual in the 11 page thread or just the usual crap?

I started that thread because at the time, he played poorly.

Was just rumours, and I should have wrote WOULD clear waiver not WILL.

But glad to see he is back on track.

That's actually a pretty funny thread, Nicky--someone even said they'd prefer Powe to Zucc. Gotta love it. :biglaugh:

LOL I did not read that whole thread. I'm glad you pointed that out. We all make mistakes and we all have some biases. I have my share as well but that is a funny post. I may search it out later. :)

He had all that in sweden to plus the goalscoring. Finally he get's a coach who want kick him down to Hartford for every mistake.
He scratched him for one game, and then gave him a second opportunity.
With Torts, he would have been in Hartford by mact 3 or 4, and not brought back up again baring a lot of injuries.

That's what it's al about, not be afraid to do a minor mistake, I think I can see some similarities with Kreider to.(Not afraid anymore)

And finally, maybe AV system is a little better fit for Zucc, than Torts was?

It's not that the thread was started (or that you made a small error in the title--that happens), but how so many posters ran with it to absurd conclusions that made it funny.

There was very little chance that Zuccarello would have ever been placed on waivers: he has something that the organization needs more of--creativity on the ice. Plus, he has a very manageable contract (and would not benefit from playing in the minors). He's just the sort of player that would be snatched up by another team.

No pun intended, but I have short changed Zuccs this season most recently.

I have made the comment than when he's not providing points, he's not providing anything.

He's playing some very inspired hockey the last 2-3 weeks and when I am wrong, I have no issues admitting it.

Love the compete level from the kid. The points are great, but he's playing both sides of the puck with a tenacious attitude and smarts.

He's been a HUGE addition to Kreider and vice versa.

Great to see
