I agree, he needs to get closer to ~50 points over 82 games but he is creating chances left and right and playing the way he finished last season using his speed and picking peoples pockets. He is like a gnat.

The guy is a different player after the scratch.. and the Rangers as a whole has turned it around drasticly. If we give the guy a tiny break and count points post-scratch, he's where he needs to be so far

Agreed, and if he keeps it up, he should have no problem getting to 50 points pretty easily. His defensive game has improved but it's not great. His value comes from his offense, so he needs to provide quite a bit of it.

We should also keep in mind that while he is one of the teams top point producers he is one of the lowest paid at 1.15 mill. He is a bargain for a salary cap strapped team.

I'm willing to bet you a car that this statistic is true for every single player in the NHL, with the usual exceptions that level out the average based on coinscidences.

I am thinking maybe there could be more into Zuke being much better playing at home than away? He played relatively poorly for the whole road trip this season, and last play off he was much better at home than away, especially in the first round against Capitals. Without any stats to back it up, the home advantage in NHL doesn't normally appear very large compared to European Leagues, or in particular European Soccer where a home game easily could translate into a goal or two.

I challenge you to name more than 5 players who played well on that atrocious road trip.

Baffling to me how, as a whole, this board generally is more critical of the inexpensive player than any other player.

Zuke seems to be a very tender subject on this board. I'm am actually a Zuccarello fan, and have been following since he played practically for free in Norway. I just thought maybe he was better at home than away, and more so than the average player. But we don't want to go there. Could get ugly.

Because a whole lot of people were vocal in their belief that Mats Zuccarello does not belong at the NHL level and, if I've learned anything in sports, it's that people would rather find any straw man justification of their opinion than admit to being wrong about something.

That's another good point regarding his playing in Norway for next to nothing. He WANTS to play for this team, he may have been able to get more money somewhere else, but he wants to be here. That, coupled with the passion he shows on the ice, coupled with the skill level he can play at....How can anyone not like this guy?

I don't like him. I love him. And I am starting have feelings for AV too.
(+mum of course)

I think the half a point per game production needs to go up a little bit, period.

I seriously wonder if people would be content with that production if he wasn't 5' nothing.

I like Zuccarello. The fact hes gotten to the NHL given his physical limitations is admirable. Just wish he was bigger, stronger, and better.

Yes, because that 0.5 ppg at that cap hit if he were 6'3" would have been atrocious.
I mean, come on bro'
http://www.capgeek.com/bargain-hunter/

There are two NYR on that list. One is on a ELC

He's gotten better defensively, looks faster, and has added an edge top his game. He's really trying to find a way to be effective and help his team. Can't be disappointed with that.

Is Norway qualified for the Olympics? He'll help his national team a lot if he continues to play like this.

Yes. He will be on the top line with Patrick Thoresen. Think playing Canada in the opening game.

* Beating Canada

Considering just how inferior Norwegian hockey is compared to American and Russian hockey, the Norwegian national team are actually capable of beating anyone on a golden day.

Zucc has not been part of the wc team lately due to the Rangers being in the PO's, so I cant wait to see him in a tournament again.

Norway can beat Canada if everything clicks, and Canada has a really, really bad game. But it is propably not gonna happen in the Olympics.

hes been one of our best player over the last 5 games. smart guy. talented. great hands. great motor for a little guy. and i really like the way he competes.

hes a steal at what we pay him.

Isn't Zuccarello still banned from National play because of the stupid betting monopoly in Norway and he signing a sponsorship deal with a foreign betting company?

No they came to an agreement and cancelled the contract so that he could play.

That would be a bigger surprise for me than the miracle of ice in 1980. In Vancouver USA and Canada ran over us like we were juniorplayers. We are not much better now.
Stamkos dominated in the 7-1 victory in the wch in Stockholm. If Canada has a "bad day", it will be 4-0, 5-1. But we can beat Finland.

Hence the really, really bad day...

I won't rule it out though, because I never thought we would beat Sweden either, even if it was just the WC.

I know we have the same chance as the Arizona SunDogs, but still...
