Over the past few years the Avalanche have had theme nights with varying degrees of relevance and tragedy

Grateful Dead night probably sums up the absolute worst of hockey trying to market itself - come to a game to celebrate an ancient musical group whose leader died decades ago and whose music you need to be stoned out of your mind to think you enjoy. Wear an ugly jersey in the process. That'll get them pouring through the doors.

About 6 years ago The Flyers did a glow in the dark wristband giveaway in honour of Ed Snyder. The rink looked amazing with the lights down, pre-game.

Unfortunately when the Capitals started winning in the 3rd period…
