Martin Skoula Han this move he did a few time where he skated to retrieve a dump in from behind the net, unprompted would fall over sending the puck right to a forechecker’s stick.

There was never a dull moment with erik karlsson on the ice. He would either do something really brilliant, or he would do something embarrassing. Here's a nice setup by karlsson to Andrei Markov.

Worst ever has to be that

Couple Stars-related ones immediately came to mind.

Here's John Klingberg with an empty net behind him, just trips and gives up an easy one to the Preds.

(Skip to 7:33 because I forgot how to link with a timestamp lol)

And who could forget this beauty from Cale Makar?

Ended up as the game winner in what was a very fortuitous series for the Stars.

Was he also known to give things away to the fans in game?

JT Miller

Guy had the puck and you can hear the goalie and all his teammates yell “PIN IT”
Meaning pin it against the boards as only 5 seconds are left. Pretty standard play at the end of a game or period.

He’s just about to do so, until he inexplicably does a blind backhand pass in front of Net where no canuck is standing.

They hit the post and almost win the game with seconds left.
Schenn and Miller go at it skating off the ice getting ready for OT, pretty much asking WTF even was that?

Lilja against the Ducks in 2007. Game 5 WCF in OT.

Snepsts against the Islanders in the 1982 Finals. Also in OT.

Burrows goal against the Blackhawks in game 7 in 2011. I forgot who even gave away the puck.

Did Miller then give all fans in attendance something?

Blue Jackets Area
The Jackets have a t shirt cannon and I’ve been to dozens and dozens of games sitting in different locations starting from the glass seats and ending with nosebleeds. Yet, I still haven’t caught a t shirt or had one land near my seats.

Also, my section has never won free pizza.

I feel like I’ve been ripped off.

With out a doubt. Alex Kovalev's many faked injuries in the playoffs. The one that stands out to me is the one while he was in MTL where he just decided to skate off to the sunset at his own blueline shaking his hand like it had just been hit with a sledge hammer and leaving Glen Murray to freely take the puck into the zone and score the game winner giving BOS the commanding 3-1 series lead. To this day I've never seen such a creampuff play that had such an impact on a Franchise... heck of a player though and one of the most skilled players we've ever seen in the NHL. But yeah, that was some kind of brutal.
This was the first one of I thought of as well. One of the most embarrassing plays I've ever seen.

This was at a high school sporting event, but the school actually gave away a local coupon/ad booklet as the prize for a 50/50 draw. You know, the one with local ads for furnaces, roofers, and maybe an ice cream coupon. It was literally the exact same one that the whole city just got in their own mailbox that same week.

I'm dying.

I'm going to bring this sucker back on track (albeit, not with a hockey example) with the actual subject matter.

Back before the Portland Timbers were in MLS, so sometime between 2001 and 2010... there was a giveaway where a local Credit Union gave away small foam pink piggy banks in the shape of pigs... about the size of a tennis ball and about the same weight.

Toward the end of the game, Puerto Rico Islanders keeper Bill Gaudette makes a huge save, turns around to the Timbers Army supports group and grabs his nuts. 1 of those pigs is thrown from a non-Timbers Army section and then suddenly damn near all 5,000-10,000 of those pink pig shaped piggy banks ended up on the field. I was there for the game. Had a piggy bank in hand... Let's just say, nearly all the piggy banks stayed in the stadium that day.

I wish I could find a video of it as there exists one since it aired on USL live or local TV (or whatever streaming service they had at the time), but I can't seem to find it.

Pizza Pizza in Ottawa used to give away a free slice for your ticket stub the day after a home game where the Senators scored 5 goals.

The season after Alfredsson-Heatley-Spezza first played together, they changed it to 6 goals and the Pizza Line was born.
It wasn't even the season after. Pretty sure it was mid-season because the Sens were scoring 5 almost every game.

There was this genius idea.

If you give a ball-like object to NHL fans before the game what do you think will happen? They did wait until Backstrom scored before throwing them on the ice.
