I can't think of another actor off the top of my head that would be better in the role of Negan than Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

JDM in his Watchmen build would have been a perfect Negan. He is too thin to be that intimidating.

to me rick still carries the show with his emotions and decisions, the rest around him is just not on his level. for example without rick negan would be just laughable, well in some way hes still funny because the writers want me to believe he has a charismatic touch. yes i am turned off from the next episode because its supposed to be about tara and the other dude... we know tara well and the other guy seems to be a minor char/canon fodder for the next fight. almost all episodes centered about 1-3 characters sucked in twd, its always has the feeling they want to kill the time till the final episodes or they just cut material for one episode in 2 or 3!(cliffhanger final). its not that they have nothing else to film, i said it on the governor season that i would like to know how he became crazy and rose to power. they could tell us something about negan...lets show him sane for a change, let him do a simple conversation with his close friends, does he have friends ?

The only thing I can complain about is his build when it comes to the role of Negan, yes.

And Lincoln is phenomenal but we already knew that.

I have so many bad things to say about this show but I will give credit where credit is due. Good or bad, Andrew Lincoln delivers. And he has impressed me more and more with each season. Not to mention his beard genetics are off the charts.

And on top of that, not only did they kill off 2 popular characters, but another popular character, Darryl, isn't likeable anymore since he was responsible for one of them

So, killing Glenn had an effect on you? Hardly to take serious after how they dealt with him before. They missed the golden opportunity to kill him off - keyword: Dumpster.

The Walking Dead was still the most watched show on TV on Sunday by a wide margin.

It seems The Big Bang back-to-back as well as whatever the "Hall Original Movie" on the Hallmark Channel was, took away some viewers though.

The ratings will bounce back up. I doubt AMC is worrying at all

This season has been underwhelming for me.

Starting to wonder if this season is the beginning of the end for the series (at least quality). Obviously there is still a huge fanbase and AMC will keep going but how original can the story be anymore?

I agree, the season has been pretty uninteresting. I've prioritized watching Westworld on Sunday nights over TWD, which I never would have bumped for a new show previously.

I think Negan may be part of the reason for the low ratings

His appearance was anticipated for years, and personally speaking, it's been a huge letdown

The actor playing him is so over-the-top that the performance comes across as hammy

And on top of that, not only did they kill off 2 popular characters, but another popular character, Darryl, isn't likeable anymore since he was responsible for one of them

Oh, and the whole Rick + Michonne thing is lame too

Negan has been perfect so far. He is an over the top character. If you don't like him that's fine but don't act like he's being portrayed inaccurately.

Could actually start focusing on re-building society, institutions, trade. The post-apocalypse setting is filled with potential. Problem is I don't think the show runners are that capable.

I was going to say. Anyone who thinks that JDM's Negan is too over the top has not read the comics. If anything this is a toned-down version of Negan, which was expected.

He's doing fine.

You mean like showing the majority of the remaining survivors joined into groups with some of the groups fighting for power and other groups trading. Wait, that's exactly what they're doing. Problem is some people will complain no matter what they do.

So Negan is just an annoying character then

My point about it contributing to lower ratings still stands

imagine this season without that cliffhanger. 6 episodes of nothing happened. i understand now why they needed to do this.

If you are looking for something to happen all the time. Try a 1st person shooter video game?

It's not supposed to happen insane stuff throughout every episode. Yes, in many shows they show a bit too much character development stuff and drag things out, and yes it also takes longer when they jump from place to place. That's how it goes. It's tough to find that balance, but it's not a movie.

I think this has been my favorite season in a while thus far haha. How has nothing happened? Glenn and Abraham were killed. The main villain and current group controlling everyone was introduced/expanded on. Another group of survivors was introduced. Rick's group had all of its weapons taken and was left essentially powerless. Jesus has come forward and started to take control of his group. Carl has started a revenge suicide mission on Negan's group. How is that nothing? There has been a ton of new characters introduced this season. If they weren't given any screen time everyone would be complaining about no character development instead.

Did people expect for Negan to be introduced and then killed off by episode 6?

I think the structure they had of spending so much time on just one or two storylines per episode has made it feel like it's dragging on a bit.

I can see that. But I've been okay with it for the most part because the new characters have really been a breath of fresh air for me. I like most of them so far.

Is it confirmed that Tara and Heath are the only two main characters in the next episode?

I don't wanna watch that
