@Chairman Maouth

I vehemently disagreed at the time. I still kinda do, but I also agree that Luongo is a lot of things, he's a fantastic goalie. But, yeah, wouldn't really use the word 'clutch' to describe him.

Cloutier is a whole other can of worms. I'll just say, you can be an excellent goalie, but too much of the stereotype. I don't blame 'em. McLean definitely had this Bower thing about him where someone could plant a poorly-timed car bomb that went off in front of them and they go "huh, better call into work".
There's nothing there I can disagree with. :thumbu:

Play dumb game win stupid prize.

And I'm not talking about Soucy.

Delightful. I want to go back to that internet, y'know, the ones where people actually did stuff on it and contributed their goofy f***ing ideas instead of f***ing pricks like me who just talk about doing it but prevent it by being so constantly miserable.

I had no idea Sami had vision problems. You'd have never known the way he played. Positionally sound, the very definition of grace under pressure, strong as an ox and sturdy to boot. He could even PPQB as a f***ing cannon. He really gave the Sedins a boost on the PP so they could slow the game down because everyone respected Salo's shot. Teammates wouldn't even stand in front of it. Except for the two crazy enough to do it - Kesler and Burrows. No clue about his eyes until just now. Had me fooled.

E: Personal thoughts. Me mum loved her some Alex Burrows more than any one Canuck. Still does to this day. I know her to be of humble nature but she also has an excellent judge of character in a man, I must say. First game I took her to, instead of my dad, she kept asking who the fella on the Jumbo was. I kept tellin' er "Burrows! Jeez!"..."he's cute"...."gross, mum"....god bless her. There was only one Canuck she loved more than Burr. I always considered myself more a Kesler type. As Burke put it "most miserable man alive to come to the rink".

Him & Ohlund could share one good set of eyes. :sarcasm:

My first Canucks Hawks game was a 4-2 loss to Chicago in game 5 2009.

Funniest thing I've ever seen in my life was a Blackhawks fan wearing Byfuglien's jersey laughing like a maniac in the concourse near section 307. Younger Rev was a little "Big Country", but realizes now it must have been a family member.

f***ing biggest trolljob I've ever seen and I honestly respected the set on that poor sucker. Looking back at it, that was Dustin Byfuglien's "breakout game". He was always seen as a good prospect (after draft), but that game propelled him to household name by proxy. Yeesh.

My first Canucks game was October 19th, 1991, for my 7th birthday.

I remember my Dad had to hoist my friend and I onto his shoulders to watch the Penalty Shot because everyone was standing. Place went bananas when he scored.

Hehe...

Mine was Gretzkys first game behind the bench. Made me fall in love with Ohlund and Naslund. Didn't even get to see Nazzy's 2nd, Only got to hear it. In my memory, I'm still filling the gaps because as soon as they crossed the blueline, everyone knew what was about to happen and stood up and ol' Rev ain't too tall and was less so without testosterone.

i’ve told this story before but it was the old coliseum and when everybody has to stand when anything halfway exciting happens because the sightlines are so bad. so when joe sakic scored the OT winner, all nine-year-old-me saw was a sea of people’s backs. that could have been the prettiest goal of all time and i’ll never know.

fitting that we were playing a quebec team actively tanking for lindros and we still lost.

team still had guys like steve bozek, brian bradley, and robert nordmark playing key roles (combined for five pts), just a few months before the arrival of diduck, tom kurvers, courtnall, ronning, momesso, robert dirk, and murzyn.

I feel like a natural part of life growing up or having been born in Metro-Van in the 80s or 90s are having very strong feelings about Joe Sakic. Just heartbreak and glory with that guy.

He’s the answer to the question of “what guy killed your team, but you respect the hell out of”.

All class, and just a big game player. Game winning goal in 2002 Salt Lake, and a big goal in the championship game of the 2004 World Cup. And that’s just wearing the Canadian jersey. Such a lethal shot, a terrific player and a classy guy.

First hockey game I watched was Gold Medal Game 2002. I taped a Sakic 91 on my back the following day.

I’ve been hooked ever since. Did you know the finest hockey play I’ve ever seen involved a guy doing absolutely nothing? I bet you did Mr C

Loved Sakic. He ate our defense alive everytime the Avs came to town. Always seemed to be a blowout, and a game the Canucks could never seem to win. Regardless it was a pleasure watching Burnaby Joe everytime. The home grown player almost every British Columbian child would idolize. Loved rooting for him with Canada, so many fond memories.

when i was a kid at ymca day camp, i swear i saw sakic on the 49 bus outside langara one summer. this is probably 1990 or 91?

i mean looking back at it as an adult i know it was probably just a different skinny white guy with dark hair but if you asked me at any point in the 90s i would have passed a lie detector test telling you i once saw sakic on the bus.
