Deep down I envy you. It was always a dream of mine to fly small airplanes like that. Big commercial ? I don't know, I guess the pay is good, but there's something so scary about piloting something that huge. I wonder, how much control do you actually feel ?
Once you disconnect the Auto Pilot it just become a big C-172....it is intimidating at first but then you realize it’s the same thing.

The tough part is the speed at which things happen and also flying into unfamiliar airports, especially abroad. I can fly into pretty much any major Canadian airport with my eyes closed.....but when they sent me to Bogotá for the first time, there’s a small element of stress that goes with it.

When you in the flight deck, you lose perspective of how big it is until you do your walk around.....then you’re like HOLY f***

Lol

Yeah some of those planes are just so freaking huge that I just cannot wrap my head around it.

I was at LAX a few years ago and what I think was a A380 was pretty damn close to one of the windows and I just couldn't get how that thing could fly. Its like 300 cars fitted into a stupid shape with two/four huge engines at the extremities.

When I was up in Resolute, we used to eat Arctic Char on a weekly basis......and in the summer we’d always have Icebergs that would be landlocked at low tide.....so we used to drive up to them, bring some wood and build a fire and chip off the ice and put them in our drinks (whiskey).....it was so ****in cool (no pun intended)

A shame char is not more available, nice tasting fish! Fun to fish for,got a bit of 'tude in them. lol.
The 'bergs are nice to see,but I was always on alert for the bears. Only been to resolute for a few balls......not what you think.

Was/is not the fan of the Inuit custom of offering the EYE of caught fish!. People should experience Quebec far North, but they gouge you with the air fare! Been to the great down under for less!

Some pretty spectacular moments up North no doubt, chilling drinks with thousands of year old ice! priceless. We should all appreciate some of the unique moments.

I'm talking 2k per person... the fly ticket alone was 950$

Got it! still a pretty good deal to get there. Things are not as expensive as they once were, but can still go nuts if you want. It's odd that to go to Japan,it can cost less than going to Europe and some other more remote locations.

I’ve been to Alert quite a few times, Eureka even more.

Ya.....dem Polar Bears are sneaky. On garbage runs we’d have one guy on spot duty on top of the truck and two hauling off the trash......they entertain you over here, meanwhile over there there’s one that’s trying to sneak up on you......wise.

Before going to the vehicles from our house, you had to do a 360 spot check (winter time) to make sure none were around the house, it was crazy man, always the fear of getting eaten lol

My ticket to Denmark was freaking 1500$ and tokyo was 950$

makes no sense IMO.

I can relate, our boat died and I was responsible to keep it adrift on the shore while the others went to get parts. Hearing those wild animals gets your imagination going. Turned out to be a herd of Caribou. lol. Still though, that clip, clop, was ominous. lol,

At least they have the sirens in the communities, but never want to encounter a polar bear. The worlds most dangerous land animal.

I still don't understand how they ticket. I keep apprised of current air costs, but it makes no sense seriously.

I think my choice is Peru. It's not my favorite destination as I'd prefer something warmer but it's the cheapest I've found.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Pacific in Peru is not that warm this time of year. If you want cheap and warm eater, got to Cuba, nothing cheaper but gorgeous beaches.

Nah, I'm a backpacker, nomad style. I'd rather just wander around than lounge on a beach all day. I know that Peru isnt warm at all, but it's not a must. Always wanted to see the Machu Pichu and the legendary Titicaca lake that fueled so many jokes from my youth.

What ever you do,don't walk the Inca trail alone

Surprised to hear that Peru is cheaper than Costa Rica or Panama, they have great hiking and camping.

Costa Rica is around a full 200 more expensive than Peru.

Panama is in the price range, but I'll admit I'm not as informed on this location. When I hear Panama all I can think of is huge resorts on the beach.

There's very few places in Latin America that are cheaper than Peru. Really only Ecuador and Bolivia, and some countries in Central America.

If you want a little warmer weather in Peru right now, go to Arequipa.

In regards to air fare? Neither has great beaches, but similar climate. Don't go during the rainy season!
personally, didn't find a huge difference between Costa Rica or Panama.Peru is certainly different than the other 2 for sure. Regardless, hiking solo or in small groups is not recommended.

Tell that to my GF who basically backpacked her way through Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, California and Hawaii with no man.
