"They've lost 1 of their last 11 games in regulation!"
I think you fail to understand the depth of our despair. We signed Kotkaniemi to a franchise ruining contract, Svech is worse then his rookie season, and TT is ded and not contributing.
The end times are now

At least Necas doesn't suck this season. I don't know what he did in the off-season but he's making much smarter decisions with the puck. Tripp continuously points that out too. He's like a different player in some ways.

Amazingly, considering he's put up a ton of points, I think he actually looks a fair bit better than his numbers suggest. Really is night and day difference with last season. He's playing confident, smart, fast hockey. Shooting better, passing better, making the right decisions with and without the puck, back checking like a man possessed. His emergence is definitely extremely encouraging from this lackluster start to the season.

This is a big thing. Last year, he had the speed but it seemed like he wasn't confident and was thus making bad decisions either trying to do too much or just the wrong play. This year, it's the opposite. Hopefully it continues as he's been the most fun player to watch on the Canes this year.

He also seems much stronger this year. He's not getting knocked down or knocked off the puck as easily as he has in the past and he's winning more battles in tight areas.

I've been sleeping ALOT. Tested positive for Flu today. I haven't been truly sick like this in years. I never got covid. Being sick as an adult sucks.
Get well…flu like Covid sucks. Took me 30 days to finally recently feel ok after Covid (similar to the 4x I had the flu….lol I haven’t got it in over 30 years…maybe my body has had all the varieties :).

When you do feel better take about A month to get back up to speed with your exercising.

Generally I agree with you, but let’s say that I see some room for improvement. my observation is that about half the time he has the puck in the ozone, he coughs it up, either with a pass that only connects with with an opponent or he holds it too long and ends up giving it up. One of the quackers goals last night immediately followed a Necas turnover in the ozone.

don’t get me wrong, his improvement this year is amazing, as his numbers suggest, but I can see he is still learning when to hold it and when to dump it (he almost never dumps the puck to an open space). As he continues to learn his own capabilities, I think he will continue to improve, I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet.

but my hats off to him for the improvement he’s made from the end of last season up to now.

I think some guys game, the way they play, the space between looking really good and looking like a fool is so small. Especially guys who want to carry the puck and dangle a little before doing cutesy no look passes.

Compare that to the meat n taters people and they rarely wow you or do anything described as "electrifying" but their game is always consistent and rarely do they look dumb. Take Jordo...the most you see is a silly head fake that leads him scoring an ENG....that or a puck bouncing off his butt in front of the net are the "highs".

Carrying the puck with speed is valuable and it does draw defenders to you or back them up on their heels but if you can't find that pass after you just get stripped in a 1v3 and look like a dummy. If you can make that pass or deke then you have a guy wide open with a high danger chance.

Live by the sword die by the sword.
