Teams come at us at their best and take playing us as a challenge. Whether they’re the last place or 10th from last place hardly matters. They played well last night, and they are NHL quality. We came back three times with a back up goalie who’s been over leaned on. For a last game of a road trip that we only left one pt on the table - as well as one we came back to get that 7th pt there’s a whole lot of focus on their standings.

Why give a shit about their standings? We had been losing a bunch before the trip and are playing a lot better right now. I thought it was a good game with a Svech poor choice on changing in OT. We got a point. Moving on.

Someone mentioned how many games they’ve had on the road already (and more to come this month). It is taking a toll on the players. Regardless of the quality of the mattress Of nice hotels … not being in one’s own bed can make one mentally exhausted. This season has been brutal for that, for the Canes.

There were lots of talks about how that totally derailed the NYI last season and it looks like it might be legit.

I haven't been keeping a close eye on it, but I will say that many of the games I've worked lately, Staal has been under 50% in the dot. KK has, surprisingly, been our best faceoff guy this year. Too bad he can't seem to do much else.

I don't want to pry too much...but do you usually travel an follow the Canes or get random assignments for random cities? How much traveling are you doing?

I only saw the first 2 before passing out...but I saw a couple plays where people worked really hard to get Stastny some very high quality chances and he has some awful, just awful shots.

Young Warren Foegele 2.0 would be a huge upgrade on this guy.

The only travel I do is the commute from Raleigh to Durham and back. Everything is remote in a little unassuming building in Durham. I'm assigned to the Canes, but when they're not playing or when there's an emergency fill in, I work games of other teams

There are positions where the person hops on a plane and sets up equipment in the various arenas, but that's way too much travel for me

Kochetkov is starter quality bud. Better than either Andersen or Raanta .

Nah, I’m not ready for that. Still possibly shiny new toy syndrome. Maybe he will be and maybe he won’t but he’s not even developed yet. Anderson should be better. If we hadn’t signed two goalies who can’t stay healthy this guy would be getting a couple of years in the minors and probably be better for it. He’s a breath of fresh air, and maybe we have no choice but to ride him but he absolutely has flaws and I’d hate to see the team let shooters figure him out before he’s fully there and mess up his confidence.

I’ve never thought much of Raanta so I don’t think it’s a huge thing to be a better starter that him, but Raanta is also much more experienced and likely to be able to handle the ups and downs.

Many young goalies have had good runs like this and have struggled after it ended. We’re so desperate for a quality younger starter that we want to hand to title to anyone who comes close. Let’s just let him take it away from someone who’s actually it before we just give it to him.

We still have Islanders and Detroit & then finally we get the Kraken at home (which I suspect will be a blah game since we seem to have meh games at home after long road trips).

My bad….but the point remains.

We’re crushing this road trip so far, and I have no idea why we care about one lost point after a game like that. Or that we care it was to the lowest team in the standings.

Because of what it clearly shows; that the Canes couldn't score in a whorehouse while holding a winning megamillions ticket, the defensive third pair couldn't make a decent midget team, Brind'Amore is probably the worst coach in the league, and the Borg is ruining this franchise to the point that we'll be lucky if the Canes aren't in Houston by the start of next season. There's no way the Canes will make the playoffs this season. Any other questions?

Matt Murray, Binnington, and to a lesser extent Carter Hart and Needaspellcheck come to mind as guys who stormed in but haven't lived back up to those early expectations/level of play

A large part of that is bad luck thus far. Eventually those point shots with screens and tips will start to go in. Before it's not too late, I hope.
