The Peg
I picture Chevy at the cottage sitting in a fishing boast jigging a worm, feeling a bunch of nibbles but waiting for a big tug before setting the hook.....

Or more accurately sitting in an ice fishing shack doing the same thing .

We haven't hear a peep about Paul though. My sneaky suspicion is that they hold onto him.

No reason to, well no good reason. From the POV of a contender, or even a pretender, Stastny should be worth just as much as Copp. His scoring this year is very nearly the same. Like Copp, he can play all 3 positions. Maybe even better as a C. Plus his all around smarts and experience would be worth a lot to a PO team, especially any one with less PO experience.

JMO, but Copp must be traded. He has value that we can't just let walk out the door for nothing.

Statsny, keep him or trade him isn't as critical. Given Statsny age, there is a chance the Jets could just end up signing him again in the summer.
Trade him to the Flames so he can go cheer on his peeps along 17th Ave.

Oh shit so only 4 concussions - that changes everything
I think the concussions are more of a risk for his long-term health and career. He played last night, so he’s fine. I don’t think a contender is gonna be scared away, especially since he’s one of the best pieces left and other contenders are loading up.

Love to see Rangers get Copp, then watch the east turn into a blood bath in the playoffs between all those teams who loaded up

Exactly, if I am a contender, I am lining up to acquire Stats... can take faceoffs, kill penalties, putting up points at a top-6 pace and brings in veteran leadership. Would be crazy if a team like the Avs or esp the Rangers weren't willing to part with a 1st to acquire him.

And then the Avs cruise to the final in the West because nobody was willing to load up knowing they had to face the Avs eventually

I'd want Barron myself if we deal him to Colorado. Former first round pick RD who has been developing well and shouldn't be that far from the NHL
I mentioned yesterday one of my good friends is a big Avalanche fan. He says that Colorado is very high on Barron and the ask would be Ehlers for him, which is obviously a no go.

He did mention that he thinks the Avs will offer Behrens straight up.

I think if he does go to Colorado that the value falls somewhere between Behrens and Barron.

If we can steal Barron I would be on cloud nine.

I think that suspicion is getting less sneaky by the minute. I’m expecting him to stick around and I think they’ll try hard to re-sign him again this offseason.

I’m OK with that. I still like Stastny and what he brings to the team and if the value isn’t there for
him then you keep him.

Copp needs to go, though.

I could see Stastny staying if the offers are mid round picks. And thats probably the right call if they still think they can fight for a playoff spot. The playoff money is important. If they can get a higher pick though, do it. And with them getting a lot of calls on Copp, they could leverage that to flipping Paul to a team that loses out on Copp.

Silver lining, I guess, is if he’s done for the year he would still be considered a rookie next season. Let’s get that Calder!
I doubt he's done for the year. He likely has the same time line as Wheeler and Ehlers had for a shoulder injury. 6 weeks or so. This Thursday would be week 5.

Frank Seravalli saying Kulak confirmed to Edmonton, the initial ask was a 2nd round pick apparently

Not confirmed but if Edmonton gave up a second that sounds bad.
